In the mountain town of Kayapa, the spirit of cooperation found renewed strength as the Saint Joseph Parish Kayapa Multipurpose Cooperative completed its two-day Advanced Cooperative Course Training on May 26โ27, 2026, at the cooperativeโs Function Hall, Poblacion, Kayapa, Nueva Vizcaya.
A total of 40 participants, including cooperative officers, members of the Board of Directors, management staff, and regular members, actively engaged in the sessions. The training was designed to equip leaders and members with the knowledge and skills needed to manage their organizations effectively, uphold accountability, and ensure long-term sustainability.
Serving as resource speaker, Mrs. Betty N. Ramos, CPA, MBA, a Cooperative Development Authority (CDA)-accredited trainer, guided participants through modules on cooperative management and governance.
On Day 1, discussions focused on CDA compliance and advanced governance, highlighting RA 9520 Articles 44โ52, investment policies, and audit findings; strategic financial management, which tackled financial ratios, asset and liability management, and capital build-up strategies; and risk management and enterprise governance, emphasizing fraud prevention, internal controls, and disaster recovery planning.
Meanwhile, on the second day, sessions moved to strategic growth and social impact, covering strategic planning, innovation, and social performance management, and concluded with leadership and ethics, which underscored cooperative values, conflict management, and board dynamics before the graduation activity.
The training is mandatory for cooperatives to comply with CDA requirements and is part of the process for securing the Certificate of Compliance.
At the helm of the program were Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) Nueva Vizcaya personnel, headed by ARPO I Ramil L. Soriano, together with ARPT Eloisa Mae G. Willie, ARPT Adriel Afec Gabot, and DARMO staff Melanie Gonzales.
In Kayapa, the training underscored how empowered cooperatives can uplift communities. By strengthening the cooperativeโs leadership, local members are better prepared to manage resources, create opportunities, and uphold accountability.
With the support of DAR Nueva Vizcaya and the expertise of Mrs. Ramos, the cooperative reaffirmed its mission to serve the people with transparency, foster innovation, and sustain values that drive community progress. #
