The Philippines is bracing for a Super El Niño from late 2026 to early 2027 ☀️

This climate event will bring prolonged heat, drought, water shortages, and higher electricity demand. At the same time, La Niña may follow with cooler, wetter conditions, increasing risks of floods, dengue, leptospirosis, and stronger typhoons.

Understanding these patterns is vital: El Niño and La Niña are not just weather shifts—they directly affect health, food security, and community safety. Preparing now means conserving water, practicing energy efficiency, and keeping emergency supplies ready.

Nueva Vizcaya completes PLGU-BLGU road projects

BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya (PIA) – The Provincial Local Government Unit in partnership with the Barangay Local Government Units recently completed road projects to boost agricultural productivity among farmers.

Governor Jose Gambito said the newly - constructed concrete road projects – a 105-meter, one-lane road in Purok Upper Greenhills in barangay Belance in Dupax del Norte town worth P1 million and the in Sitio Mangilocos in barangay Boliwao in Quezon town using the PLGU’s 1,000 bags of cement will ease the burden of farmers in transporting their products to the market.

He said the road projects were products of PLGU funding and community participation through the ‘Kalsada ti Kabanbantayan’ and ‘Dalan ti Umili’ programs.

“We are grateful for our partnership with the BLGUs of our province. Road projects such as these will encourage and inspire our farmers to engage in agriculture, using our fertile lands as their source of income,” Gambito said.

He said the road development programs are being implemented by the PLGU in support of President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. infrastructure programs to boost agricultural productivity in the countryside.

“These roads are not only for the people who use them today. They are investments for our children and grandchildren. We want to ensure that the difficulties communities face today—poor access, unsafe travel and limited opportunities—will not be inherited by future generations,” Gambito said.

Belance Barangay Captain Gideon Bryan Libangen said the road addresses a long-standing need of the community and demonstrated the provincial government’s commitment to local development.

“This road is a major improvement for our people. We are deeply grateful to the PLGU for responding to our needs. Belance also benefited from farm machinery assistance in the past, and these interventions have helped our community of farmers to move forward.”

Quezon Vice Mayor Eduardo Dasalla said the improved road has made farm transport faster, safer and less costly.

“Before the road was improved, farmers had to depend largely on carabaos to bring their produce down because vehicles could not easily pass through. “Now, larger vehicles can reach the area, making it easier for our farmers to transport their products,” he said. Mas ligtas na paaralan, mas handang komunidad. 🏫🫂
