𝐁𝐀𝐘𝐎𝐌𝐁𝐎𝐍𝐆, 𝐍𝐮𝐞𝐯𝐚 𝐕𝐢𝐳𝐜𝐚𝐲𝐚 —Governor Atty. Jose V. Gambito is pushing for the development of Nueva Vizcaya as a premier adventure tourism destination, citing the province’s natural terrain and outdoor attractions as key assets in boosting the local tourism industry.

During the Provincial Development Council (PDC) meeting held earlier today, Gambito announced that he has instructed the Provincial Planning and Development Office (PPDO) to conduct a study on possible adventure activities that can be developed across the province.

The governor said the study will determine which activities are suitable for Nueva Vizcaya’s landscape and natural resources, and how these can complement existing tourism programs.

“With paragliding activities now in full swing, we want to add more adventure attractions so that Nueva Vizcaya can become a one-stop shop for adventure tourism,” Gambito said.

He said the province has strong potential for various outdoor and sports tourism activities, including kayaking and tubing along Matuno River, off-road motorcycle activities, downhill biking, trekking and other adventure sports.

Gambito also emphasized the need to further promote the Ammoweg route in Ambaguio as an alternative adventure trail going to Mt. Pulag, saying the route offers a more exciting and challenging experience for trekkers and adventure seekers.

According to the governor, passing through Ammoweg in Ambaguio provides tourists with a more adventure-filled journey to Mt. Pulag while also helping promote local tourism and livelihood opportunities in the area.

Gambito added that developing adventure tourism would not only attract more visitors but also generate livelihood opportunities for local communities.

“We have the landscape, the natural beauty and the potential. What we need now is to properly study, plan and develop these activities to ensure they are safe, sustainable and beneficial to our people,” the governor said.

According to PPDO head Engr. Edgardo D. Sabado, the provincial government will conduct an assessment of potential adventure tourism sites in coordination with concerned agencies and local government units to ensure that the proposed activities are safe, sustainable and aligned with the province’s overall tourism development plan. /rmi

𝐁𝐀𝐘𝐎𝐌𝐁𝐎𝐍𝐆, 𝐍𝐮𝐞𝐯𝐚 𝐕𝐢𝐳𝐜𝐚𝐲𝐚 —Two Novo Vizcayano graduates of PLT College who placed in the Top 10 of their respective licensure examinations received P100,000 cash incentives from the Provincial Government of Nueva Vizcaya.

Gov. Atty. Jose V. Gambito, together with members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, led the awarding of the incentives during the provincial government’s flag-raising ceremony on Monday. The ceremony was sponsored by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) First District Engineering Office, headed by Engr. Danilo Bernabe.

The awardees were Anthony George P. Lucero, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing graduate, and Lhor Anne Flores Fernandez, a midwifery graduate, both from PLT College.

Lucero, a resident of Barangay Sto. Domingo in Bambang, earned a rating of 89.60 percent in the Nurse Licensure Examination, securing a spot in the Top 10 nationwide.

Fernandez, meanwhile, obtained a rating of 92.35 percent in the Licensure Examination for Midwives administered by the Professional Regulation Commission, ranking eighth nationwide.

The cash incentive is granted under the province’s Topnotchers Incentive Ordinance, authored by then Board Member Elma Pinao-an Lejao. Under the ordinance, a Novo Vizcayano who ranks first in a board examination is entitled to P200,000, while other qualified Top 10 placers receive P100,000.

Gov. Gambito said the incentive program aims to recognize academic excellence and inspire Novo Vizcayano students and graduates to strive for outstanding performance in national licensure examinations

Dolly Rose C. Minas, head of the Public Employment Service Division and officer-in-charge of the topnotchers incentive program, said the provincial government has already disbursed more than P1 million in cash incentives since the ordinance was implemented.

Minas said more than 10 Novo Vizcayano board topnotchers have benefited from the program, including two first placers: Dr. Kharam Molbog, a two-time topnotcher who placed first in both the Medical Technologists Licensure Examination and the Physicians Licensure Examination; and Engr. Hannah Maye Guimbongan, who topped the Geodetic Engineers Licensure Examination.
