The Local Government Unit of Besao informs the public that, pursuant to Executive Order No. 062, Series of 2026, 𝙖𝙡𝙡 𝙩𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙞𝙨𝙢 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙧𝙚𝙘𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙖𝙡 𝙖𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙚𝙨 𝙞𝙣 𝙏𝙖𝙜𝙥𝙚𝙤 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝘿𝙖𝙤𝙮𝙖𝙨𝙖𝙣 𝙁𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙨, 𝙞𝙣𝙘𝙡𝙪𝙙𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙖𝙙𝙟𝙖𝙘𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙖𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙨 𝙩𝙤𝙬𝙖𝙧𝙙𝙨 𝙆𝙖𝙢𝙖𝙣-𝙄𝙣𝙜𝙚𝙡 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝘽𝙪𝙖𝙨𝙖𝙬 𝙒𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙝𝙚𝙙 are temporarily suspended until further notice.

This measure is implemented to ensure public safety, protect our natural environment, and address the ongoing boundary dispute in the area.

We enjoin everyone to observe the temporary closure and refrain from entering the affected areas.

𝗕𝗘𝗦𝗔𝗢 𝗠𝗨𝗡𝗜𝗖𝗜𝗣𝗔𝗟 𝗧𝗢𝗨𝗥𝗜𝗦𝗠 𝗢𝗙𝗙𝗜𝗖𝗘, 𝗟𝗘𝗚𝗔, 𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝗢𝗧𝗛𝗘𝗥 𝗖𝗦𝗢𝘀 𝗖𝗢𝗡𝗗𝗨𝗖𝗧 𝗕𝗘𝗡𝗖𝗛𝗠𝗔𝗥𝗞𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗔𝗖𝗧𝗜𝗩𝗜𝗧𝗬 𝗜𝗡 𝗦𝗔𝗚𝗔𝗗𝗔

The Besao Municipal Tourism Office, members of the LAGAT Environmental Guides Association (LEGA), and participants from other CSOs successfully conducted a benchmarking activity in Sagada as part of their continuing learning and exposure in tourism guiding and destination management.

The activity program included a morning immersion at Sumaging Cave and an afternoon exposure at the Paytokan Walk, where participants experienced firsthand tourism operations, strengthening their understanding of proper tour guiding, visitor management, and safety practices.

This benchmarking activity was conducted in partnership with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Mountain Province – Besao Field Office, MMKKY Travel and Tours, and the Sagada Genuine Guides Association (SAGGAS). The Besao Municipal Tourism Office extends its sincere appreciation to Ms. Ruby Graal Guisaed, DTI Business Counselor, for coordinating and supporting the successful conduct of the activity.

Special thanks are also extended to SAGGAS and MMKKY Travel and Tours headed by Ms. Yackee Aben for generously sponsoring the food and guide fees of the participants, and to Sir Andrie Palpal for lending the helmets used during the Sumaging Cave activity. Appreciation is likewise extended to the Sagada Municipal Police Station for providing transportation assistance en route to Sumaging Cave.

The Local Government Unit of Besao, through the Besao Municipal Tourism Office, likewise expresses its heartfelt gratitude to the Local Government Unit of Sagada for allowing and supporting the conduct of this benchmarking activity. We look forward to more partnerships and collaborative initiatives in advancing sustainable and community-based tourism development.

𝗦𝗨𝗠𝗬𝗔 𝗪𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻 𝗦𝗸𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗥𝗼𝗮𝗱 𝗥𝘂𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗦𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘁 𝗔𝗹𝗳𝗿𝗲𝗱’𝘀 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗵 𝗖𝗵𝘂𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝘂𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗳𝘂𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗼𝗻 𝗠𝗮𝘆 𝟵, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲

The event was organized by the Tamboan community through the coordination efforts of Sir Byrne Bacwaden in partnership with the Besao Local Government Unit and volunteers. The Besao Tourism Office also extended its support in promoting tourism and showcasing the growing potential of Besao as a destination.

Beyond being a fundraising activity, the run also served as an opportunity to showcase scenic landscapes, mountain roads, and the warm hospitality of the community, giving participants and visitors a glimpse of what the area can offer.

Congratulations to all the participants whose energy and support made the activity more meaningful and memorable.

Eight (8) Civil Society Organizations participated in the Customer Service Training held on May 13, 2026 at the SB Hall. The activity was an initiative of the Besao Tourism Office in partnership with the Department of Trade and Industry, aimed at strengthening customer service skills among aspiring and existing tour guides.

The training was facilitated by Ma'am Ruby Graal Guisaed, Business Counselor of Besao, who discussed key topics on effective communication, professionalism, and quality service delivery in the tourism sector.

While the training was primarily designed for tour guides, it was also attended by other CSO members who expressed interest in becoming tour guides, showing the growing community support and engagement in local tourism development.

Congratulations to all the participants for their active participation, dedication, and commitment to enhancing their skills in support of a more welcoming and service-oriented Besao tourism industry.

Kitkitaw-eng Falls has once again come to life after the rain, with water rushing more strongly down its cliffs. At around 100 meters high, the falls add a dramatic backdrop to the surrounding rice terraces, making the whole landscape feel even more breathtaking and alive.
