Fuel and LPG Price Monitoring

Due to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, which has significantly affected global oil supply and contributed to rising fuel prices, The Local Government Unit of Bingawan Iloilo - Philippines, through its Local Price Coordinating Council (LPCC) and the Office of Economic Enterprise, Dindo G. Asumbra, Administrative Aide III, conducted a monitoring of fuel and LPG retail outlets within the municipality.

The monitoring activity is anchored on Republic Act No. 7581 (Price Act), which protects consumers by stabilizing the prices of basic necessities and prime commodities and prohibiting hoarding, profiteering, and other unfair trade practices, and on Executive Order No. 23, Series of 2026, which organized the Municipal Price Coordinating Council to implement and monitor price stabilization measures at the local level.

The monitoring focused on:
-ensuring fuel and LPG price compliance;
-availability and sufficiency of supply; and,
-adherence to fair selling practices by retail outlets.

It also aimed to detect and prevent potential issues such as panic buying, fuel hoarding by retailers or consumers, refusal to sell despite available supply, fuel shortages or closed pumps, and the implementation of purchase limits per vehicle.

Through proactive monitoring and strict adherence to existing laws and local policies, the LGU of Bingawan ensures that essential commodities remain accessible, fairly priced, and available—helping protect consumers, support local livelihoods, and maintain a stable and resilient community.

𝐃𝐈𝐒𝐓𝐑𝐈𝐁𝐔𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍 𝐎𝐅 𝐇𝐀𝐍𝐃𝐇𝐄𝐋𝐃 𝐑𝐀𝐃𝐈𝐎𝐒 𝐓𝐎 𝟏𝟒 𝐁𝐀𝐑𝐀𝐍𝐆𝐀𝐘𝐒

The Municipality of Bingawan, through the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO), distributed one (1) handheld radio unit to each of the fourteen (14) barangays, through their respective Punong Barangays, to strengthen communication, coordination, and information flow at the barangay level.

The initiative aims to enhance timely reporting, information dissemination, emergency coordination, and communication between the barangays and the Municipal Operations Center (OpCen), particularly during disasters, emergencies, and other critical situations.

With these handheld radios, barangays are better equipped to promptly relay situational reports, emergency incidents, requests for assistance, and other vital information to the MDRRMO. This strengthens the municipality’s communication and early warning system while contributing to improved disaster preparedness, emergency response, and inter-barangay coordination.

The distribution was conducted during the Flag Raising Ceremony and was graced by Municipal Mayor Matt P. Palabrica, Vice Mayor Elizabeth C. Occeña, and Sangguniang Bayan Members Ramil Castroverde and Wennie Javellana.

DILG Iloilo and Regional Office VI Coordination Meeting on the Growth Equity Fund Projects

The Local Government Unit of Bingawan, under the leadership of Municipal Mayor Hon. Matt P. Palabrica, PhD, continues to advance projects that respond to the basic needs and development priorities of the Bingawanon community.

Today, August 27, 2026, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Iloilo Province and the Regional Office VI – Project Development and Management Unit (PDMU) conducted a coordination meeting with the LGU Bingawan on the implementation of its Local Government Support Fund – Growth Equity Fund (LGSF-GEF) projects.

The FY 2023 LGSF-GEF Water Supply System Project has an allocation of ₱12,857,142.00, while the FY 2026 LGSF-GEF Rice Distribution Program and the Farm-to-Market Road Project in Sitio Inaquigan, Barangay Poblacion, have a combined allocation of ₱30,000,000.00.

The Rice Distribution Program will provide 10 kilograms of rice per family beneficiary for four rounds, supporting food security among identified beneficiaries. Meanwhile, the Farm-to-Market Road Project seeks to improve accessibility and facilitate the transport of agricultural products, supporting farmers and local agricultural livelihoods.

During the interfacing, Mayor Palabrica emphasized that the Water Supply System Project remains a top priority of the municipal government, as it directly addresses the basic needs of the people and aims to improve access to safe, adequate, and reliable water services. The LGU likewise prioritizes food security and improved farm-to-market and post-harvest support as important components of local development.

The LGSF-GEF provides support to local government units with limited resources in addressing critical basic service and infrastructure needs. Through these investments, the LGU Bingawan seeks to improve access to essential services, support food security, strengthen agricultural livelihoods, and promote inclusive local development.

Through close coordination and shared responsibility, the LGU Bingawan and DILG continue to work together toward projects that create tangible improvements in the daily lives of Bingawanons—from bringing reliable water closer to households, to improving farm access, supporting food security, and strengthening the livelihoods of local families.
