Today, May 29, the Reserve Command, Philippine Army commemorates the historic mobilization of the 1002nd (Lanao del Norte) Ready Reserve Infantry Battalion (RRIBn) and the Charlie Company, 1005th (Misamis Oriental) RRIBn in 2017 during the Marawi Siege. Nine (9) years ago today, 20 reservist officers and 369 enlisted reservists from Iligan City answered the call to duty, undergoing rigorous training to assume critical positions to conduct Area Defense Operations under the 2nd Mechanized Infantry Brigade. By taking charge of checkpoint security, base defense, and route control in Lanao del Norte and Iligan City, these citizen-army soldiers secured vital logistics lines and freed up regular units to focus entirely on primary combat operations to liberate Marawi.
Another RR Infantry Company was mobilized in Misamis Oriental in support to the 4th Infantry Division stability operations.
As we advance the โComprehensive Archipelagic Defense Concept (CADC)โ, this milestone serves as the operational blueprint for modern total-force integration. While our regular forces project capability outward to secure our maritime borders and Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ), RESCOM provides the vital strategic depth and infrastructure security required to hold the home front. We salute the reservists of the 1002nd RRIBn and the Charlie Coy, 1005th RRIBn whose discipline, readiness, and patriotism proved that national defense is a shared civic responsibility, inspiring every modern citizen-soldier to maintain the highest state of mission readiness for the Republic.
