4 August 2025 - Radiant hues of Blue, Green, Red and Yellow enveloped the grounds as DPWH-SDS 2nd DEO jumpstarted its month-long celebration for the district's 25th Silver Anniversary.

The event underscored various activities such as the glamorous parade of team muses, impressive presentation of yells/chants and the much awaited opening of annual sports fest.

This year's theme, "SDS2@25 : Committed to Service, Engineered for the Future" coherently testifies the office's unwavering dedication to deliver excellent quality of public service.

In his message, DE Jerome S. Mezo enjoined for a memorable commemoration of the said significant milestone through the spirit of unity, sportsmanship and camaraderie.

The office is set to culminate the said celebration on its anniversary-date proper which will be on 4 September 2025.

DPWH and DELP for Oplan Balik Eskwela

On its 8th year, the District Engineers League of the Philippines (DELP) in partnership with Department of Public Works and Highways – Surigao del Sur 2nd District Engineering Office (DPWH-SDS 2nd DEO), relives its continued support for the Department of Education’s (DepEd) program on Oplan Balik Eskwela.

A total of seventy-nine (79) learners from Kindergarten to Grade Six and four (4) teachers from San Miguel Elementary School in Bigaan, Hinatuan Surigao del Sur have benefited from the distribution of pre-packed basic educational school supplies inclusive of notebooks, pad papers, writing implements and coloring materials on July 16, 2025.
With the theme “Gamit Pang-Eskwela Handog ay Saya”, the association aims to initiate of Delivering Education as a Leverage for Progress, duly bridging the gap towards quality and sustainable education.

In his message, DE Jerome S. Mezo highlighted the DELP’s commitment of being an avenue for service especially to those who are in dire need with its various implemented programs. He further encouraged the learners to strive amongst all endeavors for a better future.

Ms. Jenalyn V. Mullot, the school’s Teacher-In-Charge, expressed her heartfelt gratitude and appreciation as the said program greatly aids the education community.

𝐃𝐏𝐖𝐇 𝐜𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬 𝟏𝟐𝟕𝐭𝐡 𝐅𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐀𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐚𝐫𝐲 🎉

Vibrant hues of blue and orange filled the crowd as Caraga Regional Office XIII celebrates 127th Founding Anniversary of Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) on 23 June 2025.

The exceptional milestone was welcomed with a motorcade activity followed by an opening program on 20 June 2025, respectively graced by the presence and enticing chants of nine (9) District Engineering Offices (DEOs) and Regional Office.

On the other hand, the highlight and much-awaited Sportsfest for various games (e.g. Basketball, Volleyball, Badminton, Table Tennis, Lawn Tennis, Dart & Laro ng Lahi) including electronic game of Mobile Legends have significantly adorned the said event.

In addition to the commemoration, a total of One Thousand Five Hundred (1,500) Narra seedlings were implanted through the tree planting activity at Nongnong Eco Park on 21 June 2025.

Regional Director Alex B. Ramos and ARD Atila S. Barre have extended their heartfelt gratitude to everyone whom have shared part and place the office into greater heights. Meanwhile, Manuel M. Bonoan, DPWH Secretary, has emphasized that this momentous event symbolizes the celebration for progress, purpose and devotion of people behind its achievements, with renewed commitment of delivering infrastructure which promotes inclusivity, resilience and sustainability.

The anniversary celebration was concluded by an Employees Fellowship Night and Awarding of Sportsfest winners at FSUU-Main Gymnasium.

DPWH GROUND BREAKS CONSTRUCTION OF CAGUYAO BRIDGE

In its fervent commitment of serving the community through quality infrastructure projects, the Surigao del Sur 2nd District Engineering Office under the leadership of DE Jerome S. Mezo successfully marks the construction stage of Caguyao Bridge on a ground breaking ceremony last May 23, 2025.

Present during the momentous event were Hon. Alexander T. Pimentel, Congressman-elect of Surigao del Sur 2nd District; Engr. Rosalia E. Plaza, Chief of Construction Section; Engr. Randel Dev P. Aparicio, Project Engineer; and Hon. Henrito R. Samontina, Barangay Captain of Caguyao.

A total of 265 Calendar Days with Php. 50,000,000.00 worth of allocation is targeted for project completion, thereby ensuring safe and convenient mobilization of goods and people.

The Department of Public Works and Highways—Surigao del Sur 2nd District Engineering Office extends its warmest felicitations to Engr. Jerome S. Mezo on his promotion as Full-Fledged District Engineer.
