August 18, 2026 - Orientation on DILG Memorandum Circular No. 2006-125 and the Establishment of the Local Council of Women in Bislig City.
The City Social Welfare and Development Office successfully conducted a one-day โOrientation on DILG Memorandum Circular No. 2006-125 and the Establishment of the Local Council of Women in Bislig Cityโ at the City Mayorโs Conference Hall, Bislig City, Surigao del Sur.
The activity was spearheaded by Ms. Jenyveve M. Quirante, RSW, Social Welfare Officer III, as part of the CSWDOโs commitment to establishing the Local Council of Women in Bislig City and promoting the welfare, empowerment, protection, and meaningful participation of women. A welcome message was delivered by Ms. Boots B. Castillo, Executive Assistant III, who expressed her support for the initiative and emphasized the importance of womenโs participation and representation in local governance and community development. The meeting was held with the brief presence of City Mayor Florencio C. Garay.
The orientation brought together representatives from various sectors and women-focused organizations in Bislig City, helping them better understand DILG Memorandum Circular No. 2006-125 and its relevance to the organization and establishment of the Local Council of Women. Key topics included the legal instruments for womenโs empowerment, guiding principles, and the nature and functions of the LCW. The session was facilitated by Mr. Julius R. Carrido, CLGOO โ DILG, who served as the Resource Speaker and shared valuable insights on the guidelines and processes for establishing and strengthening the LCW.
Following the orientation, an election of officers was conducted, marking a significant step toward the formal organization and operationalization of the Local Council of Women in Bislig City.
This milestone reflects the CSWDOโs commitment to strengthening womenโs representation, participation, and empowerment in local governance and community development.
