One hundred fifty-eight (158) Butterfly Breeders from Barangay Cawit, Boac, Marinduque received livelihood materials through the DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP) including G.I. Pipes, Round Bars, Cylindrical Hinges, Garden Nets, Square Bars, Hardiflex, and Insect Fine Mesh, all essential for constructing proper butterfly cages and pupa cabinets.
The awarding ceremony was conducted by the DOLE Marinduque Provincial Office. This assistance is designed to boost the beneficiariesโ income opportunities, improve the quality of their butterflies, and strengthen the long-term sustainability of their small businesses.
To equip the beneficiaries with practical skills that will help their businesses thrive, Livelihood Development Specialist Mr. Ralph Ryan Malinao conducted a session on proper record-keeping and financial management.
This orientation ensures beneficiaries can accurately track daily earnings, maintain clear and organized records, and wisely manage their income turning their livelihood assistance into sustainable, growing success.
Empowering not just with tools, but with the knowledge to make them truly count! ๐
The beneficiaries possess valuable advantages that strengthen the foundation of butterfly farming in their community including ample backyard spaces dedicated to breeding. Out of 158 beneficiaries, 18 already have fully constructed butterfly cages, so they were excluded from the provision of butterfly cage materials. These 18 breeders are formally recognized by the Marinduque Philexport Association Inc. under the Adopt-A-Breeder Project. All breeders will sell their butterflies exclusively to DENR-Certified Permittees, ensuring that butterfly farming in Cawit remains legal, sustainable, and globally competitive while protecting both the breeders and the environment.
DOLE Marinduque remains dedicated to empowering vulnerable families through sustainable livelihood support strengthening economic capacity and helping build a future free from poverty.
