RoadtoZEROWASTEMarinduque|| As part of the celebration of the National Zero Waste Month for January, the Provincial Government of Marinduque led by Governor Presbitero J. Velasco, Jr. and the Mayors of the five municipalities, Hon. Augusto Leo M. Livelo- Mogpog, Hon. Eduard L. Siena-Buenavista, Hon. Rolando O. Tolentino- Gasan, Hon. Marissa Red-Martinez- Santa Cruz, and Hon. Lorna Q. Velasco- Torrijos signed the MOA with Holcim Philippines, Inc. for the hauling of residual wastes to their cement plant at Norzagaray, Bulacan.
This initiative of the Provincial Government aligns with Executive Order 07-2021 or the "Zero Waste Marinduque" in promoting and guiding people to change their lifestyles and practices to emulate sustainable natural cycles, where all discarded materials are designed to become resources for other use instead of indiscriminately and irregularly disposing them.
Also, this action is just the first step to aid in de-clogging and managing the Residual Containment Areas (RCAs) of the municipalities in Marinduque. This coming year, the Provincial Government aims to support the other municipalities in transporting their baled wastes to Holcim and hopefully solve the problem of waste accumulation in the RCAs. This is a friendly reminder for everyone to be resourceful and avoid using single-use plastics.
