Marinduque has once again proven the power of 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡, 𝐬𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞, 𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐧𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐲, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐢𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐬 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐪𝐮𝐞 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲 clinched the Champion title in the 𝐇𝐀𝐍𝐃𝐀 𝐌𝐈𝐌𝐀𝐑𝐎𝐏𝐀 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐈𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐞 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 during the 𝐌𝐈𝐌𝐀𝐑𝐎𝐏𝐀 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐈𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 held on

The activity provided an opportunity for participants to showcase innovative ideas and technology-based solutions that can help communities become more prepared and resilient to disasters. It also encouraged the development of projects focused on climate change adaptation, disaster risk reduction, and sustainable community development.

The participating teams presented their innovative and practical solutions before the Provincial Panel of Evaluators composed of 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗿. 𝗝𝗼𝗵𝗻 𝗠𝗮𝗿 𝗕. 𝗝𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗮, Operations Section Chief of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO); 𝗠𝗿. 𝗔𝗻𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗻𝘆 𝗭𝗼𝗹𝗲𝘁𝗮, Head of the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) of Gasan; and 𝗠𝗿. 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗸 𝗡𝗲𝗹 𝗗. 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗮, DRRM Head and Deputy Head of the General Services Unit of MarSU. Putting innovation into action, the participants presented science and technology-based solutions that reflected their creativity, technical skills, and commitment to building resilient and sustainable communities. The Department of Science and Technology (DOST-MIMAROPA), in partnership with provincial Innovation Hubs (iHUBs) and the MIMAROPA Ventures and Innovation Network (MVINet), invites𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝟐𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝟒𝐭𝐡 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐜𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐞 𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐌𝐈𝐌𝐀𝐑𝐎𝐏𝐀 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬 to join the 𝐇𝐀𝐍𝐃𝐀 𝐌𝐈𝐌𝐀𝐑𝐎𝐏𝐀 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐈𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐞 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔.

The competition seeks student-led innovations that apply science, technology, and innovation in addressing disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation challenges in MIMAROPA. Submissions should present practical, data-informed, and scalable solutions that strengthen community resilience and support climate-informed decision-making.

From all submitted entries, up to 𝐟𝐢𝐯𝐞 (𝟓) 𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐬 𝐩𝐞𝐫 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐞 per province will be selected to compete in their respective 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐏𝐢𝐭𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬. The top three provincial finalists will receive the following prizes:

• 1st Place – ₱5,000
• 2nd Place – ₱3,500
• 3rd Place – ₱1,500

Each 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐢𝐨𝐧 will also advance for a chance to compete in the 𝐑𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐏𝐢𝐭𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, to be held during the 𝐑𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞, 𝐓𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐧𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐲, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐈𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐖𝐞𝐞𝐤 (𝐑𝐒𝐓𝐖) 𝐢𝐧 𝐑𝐨𝐦𝐛𝐥𝐨𝐧.

At the regional finals, participants will present their innovations before a panel of experts from partner agencies and institutions. The regional prizes are:

• 1st Place – ₱15,000
• 2nd Place – ₱12,000
• 3rd Place – ₱10,000

𝐃𝐎𝐒𝐓-𝐌𝐈𝐌𝐀𝐑𝐎𝐏𝐀 𝐓𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 𝐏𝐒𝐓𝐎 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐪𝐮𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐪𝐮𝐞 𝐏𝐚𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐨𝐭 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐚𝐫𝐬’ 𝐎𝐫𝐠𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐳𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐝 𝐔𝐩 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐩 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐪𝐮𝐞 𝐢𝐇𝐮𝐛 𝐈𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐬

𝗢𝗻 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝟳, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲, the 𝗗𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆 - 𝗠𝗜𝗠𝗔𝗥𝗢𝗣𝗔, through the 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆 𝗢𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲 (𝗣𝗦𝗧𝗢) - 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗱𝘂𝗾𝘂𝗲 held the 𝙋𝙡𝙖𝙣𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙒𝙤𝙧𝙠𝙨𝙝𝙤𝙥 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙈𝙖𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙙𝙪𝙦𝙪𝙚 𝙞𝙃𝙪𝙗 𝙄𝙣𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙚𝙨 at the iHub Marinduque in Bangbangalon, Boac. The activity brought together the DOST team and officers of the 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗱𝘂𝗾𝘂𝗲 𝗣𝗮𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗼𝘁 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗮𝗿𝘀’ 𝗢𝗿𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘇𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 (𝗠𝗔𝗣𝗦𝗖𝗢) to start planning programs and initiatives that will strengthen innovation in the province.

The workshop began with a welcome message from 𝗠𝗿. 𝗦𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘆 𝗔𝗻𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗻𝘆 𝗝. 𝗝𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗮, 𝙈𝙖𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙙𝙪𝙦𝙪𝙚 𝙞𝙃𝙪𝙗 𝙎&𝙏 𝘼𝙙𝙫𝙞𝙨𝙤𝙧𝙨 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙂𝙧𝙤𝙬𝙩𝙝 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙀𝙣𝙩𝙧𝙚𝙥𝙧𝙚𝙣𝙚𝙪𝙧𝙨𝙝𝙞𝙥 (𝙎𝘼𝙂𝙀). He shared that the iHub is meant to be a place where ideas can grow and where people can work together to create projects that can help the community. After his welcome message, the introduction of participants followed. 𝗠𝘀. 𝗕𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗱𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲 𝗝𝗼𝘆𝗰𝗲 𝗖. 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴, 𝙈𝙖𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙙𝙪𝙦𝙪𝙚 𝙞𝙃𝙪𝙗 𝙋𝙧𝙚𝙛𝙚𝙘𝙩 then proceeded to introduce iHub. Topics included what the iHub is, its organizational structure, the role of MAPSCO, and the partnership with Marinduque State University. Updates on the current status of the iHub project were also shared along with the national and PSTO targets.

During the activity, the MAPSCO officers also shared insights on what Marinduque can offer, as well as the challenges faced in the province. This exchange helped them better understand their role in guiding and advising individuals who may approach the iHub for ideas, opportunities, or support.

Mr. Jalla and Ms. Matining facilitated the discussions throughout the activity. The workshop served as an initial step in organizing programs and strengthening collaboration for the Marinduque iHub.

The 𝗗𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆 (𝗗𝗢𝗦𝗧) – 𝗠𝗜𝗠𝗔𝗥𝗢𝗣𝗔, 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆 𝗢𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲 (𝗣𝗦𝗧𝗢) – 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗱𝘂𝗾𝘂𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 AIRA LABS AI, the 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗚𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗱𝘂𝗾𝘂𝗲, the 𝗟𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗚𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗕𝗼𝗮𝗰, and under Marinduque iHub, conducted an Artificial Intelligence (AI) Forum entitled, “𝘼𝙄 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙍𝙚𝙜𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙖𝙡 𝘿𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙡𝙤𝙥𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩: 𝙃𝙖𝙧𝙣𝙚𝙨𝙨𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝘼𝙄𝙍𝘼’𝙨 𝙋𝙤𝙩𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙖𝙡”, on November 25, 2025, at the Governor’s Hall, Provincial Capitol, Marinduque.

The activity aims to raise awareness on AI, highlight AIRA’s role in regional innovation, and promote collaboration among government, academe, and industry for AI-driven local development. Representatives from the six municipalities, provincial offices, partner agencies, and AIRA Labs attended the forum.

𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘀𝘁 𝗞𝗲𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗣𝗮𝗼𝗹𝗼 𝗔. 𝗕𝘂𝗲𝗻𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗮 delivered his welcome remarks on behalf of 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗦&𝗧 𝗗𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗕𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗼 𝗧. 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗹. 𝗠𝘀. 𝗕𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗱𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲 𝗝𝗼𝘆𝗰𝗲 𝗖. 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴, 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗜, then introduced the guest of honor and resource speaker, 𝐌𝐫. 𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐨 “𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐨” 𝐀𝐠𝐛𝐚𝐲𝐚𝐧𝐢, 𝐃𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐆𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐏𝐮𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐜 𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐀𝐈𝐑𝐀 𝐋𝐚𝐛𝐬, where he leads government sales initiatives and engagements.

During the program, Mr. Agbayani presented various AI solutions tailored for government and academe use, highlighting ongoing and upcoming projects that demonstrate AI’s potential to improve data management and decision-making. Participants actively shared their insights, including the 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗥𝗶𝘀𝗸 𝗥𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗢𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲 (𝗣𝗗𝗥𝗥𝗠𝗢), which expressed strong interest in integrating AIRA’s systems into their developing command center for faster and more effective emergency response. An open forum followed, giving attendees the opportunity to ask questions and explore possible collaborations.

As AI continues to emerge as a powerful tool for development, DOST–MIMAROPA through PSTO-Marinduque encourages all government units and partners in Marinduque to remain engaged in exploring AI technologies that can enhance governance, improve public service delivery, and strengthen community resilience. By working together, the province can move toward smarter, more efficient, and innovation-driven development.

The 𝗗𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆–𝗠𝗜𝗠𝗔𝗥𝗢𝗣𝗔, through 𝗣𝗦𝗧𝗢-𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗱𝘂𝗾𝘂𝗲, conducted the 𝗶𝗛𝘂𝗯 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗮𝘃𝗮𝗻 𝗼𝗻 𝗢𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟮𝟭–𝟮𝟰, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱, alongside the DOST-SEI Undergraduate Scholarship Campaign, visiting various schools across the province to introduce the 𝙈𝙖𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙙𝙪𝙦𝙪𝙚 𝙄𝙣𝙣𝙤𝙫𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙃𝙪𝙗 (𝙞𝙃𝙪𝙗) to students.

The iHub is a collaborative space designed 𝒕𝒐 𝒔𝒖𝒑𝒑𝒐𝒓𝒕 𝒔𝒕𝒖𝒅𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒔, 𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒄𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒔, 𝑴𝑺𝑴𝑬𝒔, 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒂𝒔𝒑𝒊𝒓𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒓𝒆𝒑𝒓𝒆𝒏𝒆𝒖𝒓𝒔 𝒊𝒏 𝒕𝒓𝒂𝒏𝒔𝒇𝒐𝒓𝒎𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒊𝒓 𝒊𝒅𝒆𝒂𝒔 𝒊𝒏𝒕𝒐 𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒍-𝒘𝒐𝒓𝒍𝒅 𝒔𝒐𝒍𝒖𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒔. It provides access to tools, mentoring, and facilities for innovation, prototyping, and research development.

Through these visits, students learned how innovation can be used to address local challenges and improve community life. The activity also inspired young learners to engage in future iHub programs and contribute to DOST’s vision of a smarter and more sustainable Marinduque.
