After weeks of rain, the skies remained heavyโ€”but the spirit of Estanza Elementary School stayed bright. Despite the downpour, learners and teachers came together on August 27 for a simple yet meaningful one-hour, classroom-based celebration of Buwan ng Wika.

Through simultaneous activities in every classroom, learners celebrated the Filipino language, culture, and heritage through songs, poems, games, and other creative tasks. The celebration showed that honoring our language does not require grand gatherings; even one meaningful hour can nurture pride in our identity, culture, and heritage.

At Estanza ES, the rain may have continued outside, but the love for language continued inside.

Parents come to school to receive printed learning materials

As several days of rain kept teachers working from home and learners engaged in modular and digital distance learning under the HINAY Code, parents came to school on August 24 to receive printed learning materials for their children.
Parents from every grade level responded to the teachersโ€™ call, ensuring that their children would have access to learning resources despite limited access to digital copies at home.

The distribution followed a review of the schoolโ€™s distance learning implementation led by the school head. The review highlighted the digital divide as one factor that the school needs to address, particularly among learners who have limited or no access to digital learning materials.

The activity also supported the schoolโ€™s preparations for the Term 1 Examination, providing learners with essential materials for continued study and review despite the weather-related disruption.

Pursuant to Memorandum Circular No. 129 of the Office of the President of the Republic of the Philippines and DepEd Order No. 14, s. 2026, or the Guidelines on Learning Continuity in Emergencies, face-to-face classes remain suspended on August 19, 2026, due to the persisting effects of the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) and the risk of localized flooding.

After a week of class suspensions brought about by Typhoon Maymay and the Enhanced Southwest Monsoon (Habagat), school personnel reported today to conduct a rapid assessment of the schoolโ€™s physical facilities.

The team inspected classrooms, learning spaces, pathways, and other essential areas to check their condition and readiness for possible resumption of face-to-face classes tomorrow.

While the weather remains unpredictable, preparation remains within our control. The assessment ensures that our learning spaces are safe, clean, accessible, and ready to welcome our learners back when conditions permit. Safety first, readiness alwaysโ€”because learning can only continue where safety comes first.
