PILANDOK MAINTAINS ITS STRENGTH AS IT MOVES NORTHWESTWARD.

β€’ Location of Center (4:00 PM)
The center of Tropical Storm PILANDOK was estimated based on all available data at 1,015 km East of Extreme Northern Luzon (22.2Β°N, 131.5Β°E).

β€’ Intensity
Maximum sustained winds of 65 km/h near the center, gustiness of up to 80 km/h, and central pressure of 998 hPa
β€’ Present Movement
Northwestward at 10 km/h

β€’ Extent of Tropical Cyclone Winds
Strong to gale-force winds extend outwards up to 580 km from the center

Severe Winds
The Southwest Monsoon will bring strong to gale-force gusts over the following areas (especially in coastal and upland areas exposed to winds):

β€’ Today until Thursday (03 September): Most of Luzon and Visayas, Zamboanga del Norte, Misamis Occidental, Lanao del Norte, Misamis Oriental, Camiguin, Dinagat Islands, Davao Occidental, and Davao Oriental.
Furthermore, the track may still shift within the limit of the forecast confidence cone.

β€’ PILANDOK is forecast to temporarily turn eastward then northward over the next 24 hours. Afterwards, it will move generally northwestward for the remainder of the forecast period. It is forecast to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) by Thursday (03 September) early morning. This tropical cyclone is less likely to make landfall over the country and will remain far from the Philippine landmass.

β€’ PILANDOK is forecast to remain as a tropical storm as it moves towards southern Japan.

Bontoc, Mountain Province – As of 4:00 PM today, September 1, 2026, the weather in Bontoc is gloomy with occasional light showers. We are reminding everyone to carry their umbrellas when heading outdoors to stay dry amidst the changing weather conditions.

Meanwhile, the Chico River in Samoki continues to maintain its normal water level.

As of 2:00 PM today, 1 September 2026, the Low Pressure Area (LPA 08l) has dissipated.

Meanwhile, Tropical Storm "PILANDOK" is still being monitored INSIDE the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).

Additionally, Tropical Storm β€œSAUDEL” (formerly OBET) and LPA 08m are being monitored OUTSIDE the PAR. LPA 08m has a "MEDIUM" potential of developing into tropical depression within the next 24 hours.
