Day 3 marked a memorable milestone as the Calingatngan Youth Organization (CYO) was recognized as the Visayas Finalist for the Planet Award during the Ten Outstanding UN SDG Awards (TOUSA) 2026.

Representing the organization, CYO President Jerwin Lloyd Aljibe and SK Kagawad Engr. Mark Cedrick Galla proudly received the award during the official awarding ceremony, celebrating the collective efforts of our youth volunteers, partners, monitoring staff, and the Local Government Unit of Borongan City in advancing climate action and sustainable community initiatives.

The Calingatngan Youth Organization (CYO) is deeply honored to be recognized as the Visayas Finalist for the Planet Award during the Ten Outstanding UN SDG Awards (TOUSA) 2026, held as part of the UN SDGs Youth Convergence in Puerto Princesa City, Palawan.

This recognition celebrates our unwavering commitment to environmental conservation, climate action, and youth-led community development. It reflects the dedication of every CYO member, volunteer, partner, and monitoring staff who has worked alongside us in creating meaningful and sustainable impact in our community during Round 1 and Round 2 of Bloomberg Philanthropies Youth Climate Action Fund.

The award was received by CYO President Jerwin Lloyd Aljibe together with SK Kagawad Engr. Mark Cedrick Galla, the prestigious recognition was formally presented on stage by Christopher Doroja, Executive Director of UN SDSN Youth Philippines, together with Renko Gaudiel, Senior Program Manager of Sustainable Development Solutions Network Youth Philippines, and Asec. Juanquine "Wacky" Racho Castro, Commissioner Representing Visayas of the National Youth Commission (NYC).

We extend our sincere gratitude to the Local Government Unit of Borongan City, under the leadership of City Mayor Jose Ivan Dayan Agda, for its unwavering support in advancing climate resilience and empowering youth participation in environmental sustainability and climate action initiatives. This recognition is also a testament to the City's continued commitment to investing in young leaders who are making a positive impact in their communities.

CYO President Jerwin Lloyd Aljibe and SK Kagawad Engr. Mark Cedrick Galla continued their participation in the UN SDGs Youth Convergence 2026 by joining the SDG Innovation Fair, where youth organizations and Sangguniang Kabataan councils from across the country showcased their best practices, innovative initiatives, and community-driven programs that contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The morning also featured a Forum Discussion on transformative solutions for sustainable development, followed by breakout sessions on the five pillars of the SDGs: Prosperity, with Asec. Dexter A. Galban on quality education for inclusive development; Peace, with Asec. Juancquine "Wacky" Castro on building strong institutions; People, led by Mr. Jan Michael Servando on advancing sexual and reproductive health and rights; Planet, presented by Ms. Darlyn Misajon on climate action and sustainability; and Partnerships, where Mr. Ranze Calderon discussed collaboration and innovation as key drivers of sustainable development.

𝗖𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗮𝘁𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗻 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗢𝗿𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘇𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗝𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘀 𝗣𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗘𝗮𝗴𝗹𝗲 𝗪𝗲𝗲𝗸 2026 𝗖𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 🦅

June 17, 2026 | The Calingatngan Youth Organization, represented by President Jerwin Lloyd P. Aljibe and SK Kagawad Engr. Mark Cedrick Galla, participated in the Philippine Eagle Week 2026 Celebration organized by the Philippine Eagle Foundation held at the City Public Market Function Hall in the City of Borongan.

The event emphasized the critical importance of protecting the Samar Island Natural Park (SINP), home to the Philippine Eagle and a vital ecological zone that covers a significant portion of the city’s land area. Discussions highlighted the role of youth in advancing environmental awareness and conservation efforts.

City Mayor Jose Ivan Dayan C. Agda underscored the importance of safeguarding local forests and announced plans to institutionalize environmental conservation programs to ensure sustainability beyond his term of office.

The program concluded with a film showing that showcased ongoing conservation initiatives led by the Philippine Eagle Foundation in protecting the Philippine Eagle and its habitat.

📚✨ 𝗜𝗻𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻 𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲.

JUNE 14, 2026 | The Sangguniang Kabataan of Brgy. Calingatngan conducted the distribution of school supplies to college and high school students at the Barangay Covered Court, an initiative spearheaded by SK Chairman Arturo Gerna together with SK Kagawads Mark Cedrick Galla and Carla Jean Rapada.

Joining the activity were Hon. Arelene T. Aljibe, Barangay Kagawad – Committee on Education, Mr. Jerwin Lloyd P. Aljibe, President of the Calingatngan Youth Organization, Ashley Agno, President of the Calingatngan Youth Ministry, and dedicated youth volunteers who helped make the activity possible.

Through unity and service, we continue to support the dreams and education of every young taga-Calingatngan.
