For many community-based enterprises, managing inventory, monitoring sales, and keeping financial records are often done manually โ a process that can be time-consuming and prone to errors. But for two agrarian reform beneficiary organizations (ARBOs) in Eastern Samar, embracing digital technology has opened new opportunities for more efficient and organized business operations.
Through the initiative of the DTI - Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (CARP) - Eastern Samar, in partnership with the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR), members of agrarian reform beneficiary organizations were introduced to digital business management through the Business Automation System Training using the Peddlr App.
On May 18, 2026, members of Bolusao Coconut-Based Integrated Farmers Association, Inc. (BCBFAI) gathered in Brgy. Guinob-an, Lawaan, Eastern Samar to learn how digital tools can improve the management of their poultry and cacao-related enterprises. For years, members relied heavily on handwritten records for tracking inventory and sales. While effective in the past, manual recording became increasingly difficult as their business operations expanded.
Through the training, participants learned how to use the Peddlr App for inventory management, sales recording, financial monitoring, and report generation. The activity introduced a more systematic and efficient way of managing daily operations, helping members better understand the value of digitalization in sustaining and growing their enterprises.
Adding to the associationโs motivation was the turnover of a machine that will further support their production and operational needs. For the members, the assistance symbolized not only support for their livelihood but also confidence in their capacity to manage a more modern and competitive enterprise.
Similarly, on May 20, 2026, members of Gen. MacArthur San Isidro Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Association, Inc. in Brgy. San Isidro, General MacArthur, Eastern Samar underwent the same digital business automation training.
The association, engaged in banana and root crop processing, recognized the need to improve its business systems as production and sales activities increased. Through hands-on demonstrations and practical exercises, participants learned how digital tools can simplify operations, improve accuracy in record-keeping, and support better financial monitoring and decision-making.
For many participants, the training was their first experience using a digital business application. Despite initial hesitation, members gradually gained confidence in navigating the app and realized how technology can make enterprise management easier and more organized.
More than teaching participants how to use an application, the training became an opportunity to empower rural micro entrepreneurs to adapt to changing business environments and embrace innovation. Through the continued efforts of DTI-CARP and the DAR, ARBOs in Eastern Samar are steadily moving toward more resilient, efficient, and technology-driven enterprises โ proving that with the right support and knowledge, even small community enterprises can thrive in the digital age.
