802 CDC Personnel Lead "Shaping Future Leaders" Initiative in Eastern Samar: Your Journey to Lead, Serve, and Inspire Starts Here

BORONGAN CITY, EASTERN SAMAR – 11 July 2026 – What does it take to turn your hidden potential into meaningful purpose, and your student years into a legacy of leadership? Personnel from the 802nd Community Defense Center (802 CDC), 8RCDG, RESCOM, Philippine Army – together with the Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC), a core pillar of the National Service Training Program (NSTP) – brought this vision to life today across all four campuses of Eastern Samar State University (ESSU): Guiuan, Can-avid, Maydolong, and Borongan.

Far more than a standard gathering, this "Shaping Future Leaders" orientation opened new doors for young Eastern Samareños, proving that ROTC is never just training—it is your personal pathway to build unshakeable character, unlock lifelong opportunities, and create real, lasting change right in your own community and across our nation.

Steering this inspiring initiative with dedication and leadership were our ROTC Commandants and NSTP officials:

ROTC Commandants:

- MAJ BETHUEL N. BARBER (INF) PA – Commandant, ESSU Borongan
- MAJ CESAR L. BALLADO JR. (INF) PA – Commandant, ESSU Can-avid
- CPT ALVIN B. LACABA PA (RES) – Commandant, ESSU Guiuan
- 1LT NELSON N. AZURA PA (RES) – Commandant, ESSU Maydolong

NSTP Officials:

- Dr. ROLANDO R. CODILAN – NSTP Director, ESSU Borongan
- Prof. JOEL O. PAGALA – NSTP Head, ESSU Guiuan
- Mr. DARWIN R. CALVO – NSTP Head, ESSU Can-avid
- Mr. MARLON M. DETALO – NSTP Head, ESSU Maydolong

Beyond sharing information, the event sparked passion and clarity, anchoring every participant in values that will carry them through life: Discipline that turns challenges into strength, Leadership that lifts others up alongside you, and Service that gives your journey true meaning. Students discovered how ROTC builds unwavering confidence, sharpens skills valued in every career, and welcomes you into a close-knit family of achievers who support one another every step of the way.

We also proudly honored the powerful example set by five (5) newly commissioned 2nd Lieutenants from OCC-ROTC Class 03-2026 namely;
- 2LT ELTON S SESANTE PA
- 2LT KYLE JOELLE A PAET PA
- 2LT JHUN NILO L GUARINO PA
- 2LT JASON Q ARGANDA PA and
- 2LT PETRONILO O MANADONG JR PA
the outstanding leaders who walked this exact same path, proving one simple truth: if you step forward with courage, you too can rise to lead and serve with excellence.

This united effort between the 802 CDC, 8RCDG, RESCOM, Philippine Army, and Eastern Samar State University extends a heartfelt invitation to every young person: You have everything it takes to shape the future—and it starts right now. Whether you dream of guiding progress in your hometown, building an exceptional career, or standing ready to answer your country’s call—ROTC gives you the foundation, mentorship, and courage to turn those dreams into reality.

Don’t just watch the future happen—be the one who leads it.
Be part of something bigger. Grow into your best self. Lead with heart. Serve with pride.
