The Committee on Peace and Order successfully attended the two-day Barangay Peacekeeping Action Team (BPAT) Training held at the Multipurpose Gym, Barangay Campesao.

The training was conducted by the Philippine National Police (PNP) Borongan City in accordance with Section 391 of Republic Act No. 7160 (Local Government Code of 1991), which authorizes barangays to organize and maintain peacekeeping forces to help preserve peace, maintain public order, and ensure the safety of the community.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our very supportive and generous Punong Barangay, Hon. Estela C. Apura, for her unwavering support and for the assistance extended to our Barangay Tanods throughout the training.

Together, let us continue working hand in hand to build a safer, more peaceful, and more secure barangay where peace, order, and public safety are always upheld.

Barangay Patrol and Road Clearing Operation

The Committee on Peace and Order, under the leadership of Hon. Anthony A. Aguillo, together with the Barangay Tanod members, successfully conducted a Barangay Patrol and Road Clearing Operation along the barangay roads.

This activity is in accordance with Barangay Ordinance No. 01, Series of 2018, which mandates that all public and private vehicles must be parked only in their designated parking areas. No portion of any barangay road shall be used as a parking area to ensure the free flow of traffic and the safety of all road users.

This initiative is likewise supported by national laws and policies, including Commonwealth Act No. 548, which prohibits the obstruction of public roads, and the Land Transportation and Traffic Code (Republic Act No. 4136), which regulates parking in prohibited areas. It is also consistent with the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Road Clearing Program, which directs local government units to keep roads free from illegal obstructions, including illegally parked vehicles.

The Committee respectfully appeals to all residents:

Kun aton hihimoon nga parkingan an kalsada, an aton mga igkasi Can-abong nga masulod o magawas makukurian ha pag-agi. Labaw ha ngatanan, an aton mga emergency responders sugad han ambulansya, bombero, ngan kapulisan mahimo makurian pagresponde kon an kalsada nahaharangan hin mga nakaparada nga sarakyan. Sanglit, gin-aaghat namon an ngatanan nga iparada hin maupay an iyo mga sarakyan ha angay nga parking area para han kaupayan ngan kaluwasan han bug-os nga komunidad.”

Keeping our roads free from illegal parking benefits everyone by ensuring the smooth flow of traffic, providing immediate access for emergency responders, reducing the risk of accidents, protecting pedestrians, and promoting peace, order, and public safety within the barangay.

A clear road saves lives. Let us all cooperate in keeping our barangay roads safe, accessible, and obstruction-free.

In preparation for the upcoming Fiesta 2026, the Committee on Peace and Order, led by its Chairman, Hon. Anthony A. Aguillo, conducted its monthly committee meeting together with the Barangay Tanods.

During the meeting, the importance of the fiesta celebration and the responsibilities of everyone in ensuring a safe, peaceful, and orderly community were emphasized.

Discussions also covered parking management, traffic control, and the duty schedules of the Barangay Tanods throughout the celebration. In addition, identified hotspot areas will be closely monitored to maintain peace and order—not only during the fiesta festivities but throughout the entire year.

The Committee remains committed to promoting public safety and strengthening community cooperation to ensure a successful and peaceful Fiesta 2026 celebration.

Barangay Can-abong Committee on Peace and Order actively participated in the online seminar spearheaded by DILG Region VIII, “2026 PAGRIG-ON HAN MGA HARIGI: Strengthening of Barangay-Based Institutions – Episode 4: Barangay Tanods.”

This learning session enhanced our understanding of the vital roles and responsibilities of Barangay Tanods, disaster preparedness and response, and provided a refresher on Basic Life Support (BLS). Through continuous learning and capacity-building, we remain committed to promoting peace, public safety, and community resilience in Barangay Can-abong.

KITAA || Strengthening Road Clearing and Barangay Security Efforts

In line with Barangay Ordinance No. 01, Series of 2018, and guided by the provisions of the Republic Act No. 7160 and Republic Act No. 4136, the Committee on Peace and Order of Barangay Can-abong, led by Committee Chairman Hon. Anthony Arao Aguillo, continues to intensify its road clearing operations to maintain safe and obstruction-free public roads.

Alongside this, the barangay has strengthened the roving patrol of Barangay Tanods, particularly in identified hotspot areas, to further enhance peace and order, deter unlawful activities, and ensure the safety and security of all residents.

These combined efforts reflect the barangay’s commitment, in coordination with the Department of the Interior and Local Government, to promote discipline, public safety, and a more secure and organized community.
