August 19, 2026
August 18 - 19, 2026, continuous heavy rainfall affected many areas, causing concerns about the safety of learners, teachers, and other school personnel. Due to the persistent rain and the possibility of flooding in several locations, the MalacaΓ±ang Palace announced the suspension of face-to-face classes and directed schools to implement alternative learning modalities.
Following this declaration, Portic Integrated School, headed by Mr. Fernando P. Espinoza, immediately adopted the online learning modality to ensure the continuity of education while prioritizing the safety of everyone. The announcement was communicated through official school channels, allowing teachers, learners, and parents to prepare for the transition.
Although the shift was made on short notice, teachers were able to organize their classes and provide learning materials through online platforms. Virtual discussions, assignments, and other learning activities were conducted to ensure that lessons continued despite the weather disturbance. Learners participated from their homes, while parents and guardians provided support in helping them access their lessons and complete their tasks.
The experience presented some challenges, particularly in internet connectivity due to the weather conditions. However, teachers remained understanding and flexible by providing alternative means for learners to accomplish their requirements. This cooperation between the school, learners, and parents contributed to the successful implementation of online classes.
The event demonstrated the importance of preparedness and adaptability during emergencies. Despite the heavy rainfall and suspension of face-to-face classes, learning continued through the collective efforts of the school community. Under the leadership of Mr. Fernando P. Espinoza, Portic Integrated School remained committed to providing quality education while ensuring the safety and well-being of its learners and personnel.
The shift to online learning served as a reminder that education can continue even during unexpected circumstances when everyone works together toward a common goal.
