As the Philippine Rural Development Project (PRDP) Scale-Up reaches its midpoint, PSO Mindanao joins the 5th World Bank Implementation Support Mission (WB-ISM), which officially kicked off on April 7, 2026, and will run until April 27, 2026.

The mission serves as a key platform to assess the overall progress of subproject implementation nationwide, ensuring that ongoing interventions remain on track and responsive to the needs of farmers, fisherfolk, and partner communities.

For the Mindanao leg, the World Bank Team, together with PRDP implementers, will conduct site visits on April 15–17, 2026 in Region XIII (Caraga). The team is set to visit major subprojects, including the β€œTuna Consolidation and Marketing with Cold Chain Facilities” under the I-REAP component and the β€œConcreting of Kinabigtasan–Lindoy Farm-to-Market Road with One Unit Concrete Bridge” under the I-BUILD component.

These visits aim to validate on-ground accomplishments, assess implementation progress, and directly engage with local government units and beneficiaries to better understand the impact of PRDP interventions on rural livelihoods and local economies.

PSO Mindanao Project Director Macario D. Gonzaga, together with Deputy Project Director Carlene C. Collado, CPA, and the component and unit heads, participated in the virtual kick-off meeting, reaffirming their commitment to support the mission and ensure the readiness of subprojects in the region.

Through its active participation, PSO Mindanao continues to strengthen coordination across implementing units, address operational challenges, and contribute to the effective delivery of PRDP Scale-Up. As the project reaches its midpoint, the mission also provides an opportunity to align strategies and sustain gains toward achieving long-term development outcomes. (via Joy M. Mindanao Cluster gears up for the 5th PRDP Scale-Up World Bank Implementation Support Mission (WB-ISM) scheduled on April 15–17, 2026.

For the Mindanao leg, the World Bank Team is set to visit selected subprojects in the CARAGA Region, including enterprise (I-REAP) and rural infrastructure (I-BUILD) subprojects funded under the PRDP Scale-Up. These site visits aim to assess on-ground progress, validate implementation status, and engage directly with beneficiaries and implementing units.

In preparation for the mission, PSO Mindanao and its partner Regional Project Coordination Offices (RPCOs) have intensified coordination efforts to ensure readiness of subprojects, documentation, and key deliverables.

Aside from the field visits, the Mindanao Cluster will present its cluster report, highlighting overall implementation progress, key accomplishments, and the current status of individual subprojects across the region.

The upcoming mission serves as a vital platform to showcase milestones, address implementation challenges, and further strengthen collaboration between the Department of Agriculture, the World Bank, and local stakeholders in advancing rural development initiatives.

Holy Week invites us to pause, reflect, and renew our spirit.

In this solemn season, may we find comfort in faith, strength in prayer, and hope in the promise of better days ahead. May this sacred time also remind us of the importance of kindness, gratitude, and staying grounded in what truly matters.

PRDP Mindanao joins everyone in praying for a meaningful and blessed Holy Week.

For years, farmers in Barangay Salabaca faced a common challenge after every harvestβ€”finding a place where they could properly dry and store their produce. Without adequate facilities, farmers often had to improvise or travel to other areas just to process their harvest.

For Barangay Chairperson Ester M. Loro, who was also once part of their local farmers’ organization, the situation was a constant struggle for many members of the community.

The warehouse and solar dryer have since provided a practical solution to the farmers’ post-harvest needs. Previously, many farmers had no choice but to create improvised drying areas or rely on limited facilities available in nearby areas. With the new infrastructure in place, farmers can now dry their coconuts and even rice in a safer and more organized environment.

β€œThis warehouse has helped our farmers a lot because they no longer struggle to dry their coconuts. They can also dry rice here when needed,” Loro shared.

Beyond convenience, the project has also improved accessibility for farmers. The solar warehouse was strategically built along the barangay road, making it easier for farmers to transport their harvest to the facility.

Equally important for the community is the quality of the infrastructure. Loro emphasized that the project was implemented properly and came with complete facilities that meet the needs of the farmers.

β€œWe can see that the project was implemented well because the facilities are complete. We truly appreciate the quality of the implementation,” she said.

With the new warehouse and solar dryer now serving the community, farmers in Barangay Salabaca are optimistic about improving their productivity and livelihood. For Loro, the project represents more than just infrastructureβ€”it symbolizes the collective effort of the community and the government to support the hardworking farmers who sustain local agriculture.
