Mayor Rey P. Lacoste reaffirmed his administrationโ€™s strong support for education during the Ceremonial Signing of the Deed of Donation and Memorandum of Agreement for the school lot of Dautil Watkins National High School, in commemoration of the school's 2nd Foundation Anniversary. He also expressed his gratitude to Congressman Miguel Luis R. Villafuerte and Governor Luis Raymund F. Villafuerte for their unrelenting advocacy of projects that advance education and infrastructure in the Municipality of Buhi.

The event formalized the generous land donation made by Mr. Joshua Watkins and Mrs. Trinidad Dautil-Watkins, securing a permanent site for the institution. Mayor Lacoste extended his support by mobilizing LGU resources and ensuring that the schoolโ€™s needs remain part of Buhiโ€™s development priorities.

In his message, Mayor Rey P. Lacoste lauded the donors for their generosity and steadfast commitment to education. President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. led the oath-taking of newly elected officials of the League of Cities of the Philippines (LCP) and the League of Municipalities of the Philippines (LMP) at the Ceremonial Hall of Malacaรฑan Palace on Tuesday.

Among those sworn into office was Mayor Rey P. Lacoste of the Municipality of Buhi, who now serves as the Regional Representative of Region V in the National League of Municipalities of the Philippines.

The LMP, which represents 1,493 municipalities nationwide, reaffirmed its commitment to advancing inclusive growth, participatory governance, and people-centered development through stronger partnerships with national government agencies.

Mayor Lacosteโ€™s election as Regional Representative highlights Buhiโ€™s active leadership role in promoting good governance and sustainable development in the Bicol Region and beyond.

Mayor Rey P. Lacoste attended the 1st National Directorate Meeting and Election of National Officers of the League of Municipalities of the Philippines (LMP) held on October 2, 2025, at New World Hotel, Makati City.

During the event, Mayor Lacoste was elected as the Regional Representative of Region V, joining other local chief executives in shaping the direction of the national organization. LGU Buhi Bags Green Banner Seal of Compliance 2024

Legazpi City, Albay โ€“ Under the leadership of Mayor Rey P. Lacoste, the Local Government Unit of Buhi has been honored with the Green Banner Seal of Compliance 2024, after earning an impressive 95.2% rating, one of the highest scores in the region.

The award was conferred during the Regional Nutrition Awarding Ceremony held on September 30, 2025, in Legazpi City. Mayor Lacoste was joined by Councilor Hon. Leticia D. Moralde, Chairman of the Committee on Health and Social Welfare, and Municipal Nutrition Officer Ryan D. Oaferina, who was also recognized as 1st Runner-Up Municipal Nutrition Action Officer in the Bicol Region.

The Green Banner Seal of Compliance is the highest honor given to local government units that have shown outstanding performance in implementing nutrition programs. This underscores Buhiโ€™s continuing commitment to fight malnutrition and promote better health for its residents.

LGU Buhi Conducts Post-Operation Debriefing Following Typhoon Opong

The Incident Management Team of Buhi, through the leadership of Mayor Rey P. Lacoste, held a post-operation debriefing after the safe decampment of around 2,500 evacuees from lakeside barangays ahead of Typhoon Opong.

Though the storm shifted away from Buhi, Mayor Lacoste thanked the IMT, barangay officials, and volunteers for their swift response and emphasized the need for continued preparedness.

The LGU Buhi remains committed to safeguarding the community through proactive disaster risk reduction efforts.

LGU Buhi Holds Operation Briefing for Typhoon Opong

Buhi, Camarines Sur โ€” September 25, 2025. The Local Government Unit of Buhi, through its Incident Management Team (IMT), held an operation briefing today at the Millennium Center to prepare for the impact of Typhoon Opong.

Mayor Rey P. Lacoste directed IMT members to ensure the orderly evacuation of about 2,500 residents from the barangays of Ibayugan, Iraya, Sta. Cruz, and Ipil. Seven evacuation centers have been readied to accommodate evacuees.

According to PAGASA, Typhoon Opong is expected to bring heavy rains that may cause flooding and landslides. The LGU urges residents to stay alert and follow official advisories.

LGU Buhi Welcomes Courtesy Call of ADRA Philippines

The Local Government Unit of Buhi, under the leadership of Mayor Rey P. Lacoste, welcomed representatives from the Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) Philippines during a courtesy call on September 22, 2025.

Established in 1984, ADRA Philippines is part of the global ADRA network, a humanitarian organization committed to helping people in need regardless of their race, ethnicity, or religious affiliation. In the country, ADRA continues to partner with local government units, civil society, and communities to build resilience and promote sustainable development.
