Nakiisa sa programa ang mga kinatawan mula sa Local Government Unit of Buhi, Barangay San Ramon, Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) Iriga, Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO) Buhi, Office of Agricultural Services, Lake Development Office, Office of the Vice Mayor, Peoples Energy Services Incorporated (PESI), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Philippine Coast Guard Team Buhi, Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) 5th District Engineering Office, mga piling estudyante ng Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science ng Central Bicol State University of Agriculture (CBSUA), gayundin ang iba't ibang volunteer organizations at community partners.

Philippine Environment Month 2026 | Tree-Growing Activity๐ŸŒฑ ๐Ÿ’š

In celebration of Philippine Environment Month 2026, with the theme "Inspired by Nature for Climate and Future," the National Power Corporation โ€“ Watershed Management Department โ€“ Buhi-Barit Watershed Area Team (NPC-WMD-BBWAT) successfully conducted a Tree-Growing Activity in Barangay San Ramon, Buhi, Camarines Sur, as part of its Watershed Rehabilitation Program under the Social Mobilization component.

The activity gathered representatives and personnel from the Local Government Unit of Buhi (LGU Buhi), Barangay Local Government Unit of San Ramon (BLGU San Ramon), Community Environment and Natural Resources Office of Iriga (CENRO Iriga), Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office of Buhi (MENRO Buhi), Office of Agricultural Services โ€“ Municipal Agriculturist (OAS), Lake Development Office (LDO Buhi), Peoples Energy Services Incorporated (PESI), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Philippine Coast Guard Team Buhi (PCG), Department of Public Works and Highways โ€“ 5th District Engineering Office (DPWH 5th DEO), selected Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science students from the Central Bicol State University of Agriculture (CBSUA), volunteer organizations, and community partners.

Observed every June pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 237 (1988), Philippine Environment Month promotes environmental awareness and encourages collective action to protect, conserve, and sustainably manage the country's natural resources. This year's theme emphasizes the importance of nature-based solutions in addressing climate change, strengthening ecosystem resilience, and securing a sustainable future for present and succeeding generations.

As part of BBWAT's continuing commitment to watershed conservation, participants planted indigenous tree species to help restore degraded forestlands, rehabilitate denuded areas, and enhance the ecological integrity of the Buhi-Barit Watershed Reservation (BBWR). Beyond tree planting, the activity strengthened collaboration among government agencies, academic institutions, private organizations, volunteers, and local communities while promoting environmental stewardship, biodiversity conservation, and sustainable forest management.

Together, we reaffirm our shared responsibility to protect our forests and watershedsโ€”vital natural resources that provide clean water, conserve biodiversity, support livelihoods, and help mitigate the impacts of climate change. Through unity, collaboration, and collective action, we continue to build a greener, healthier, and more climate-resilient future for all.

๐ŸŒฑ Adopt-a-Forest Tree Growing Activity ๐ŸŒฑ

On June 25, 2026, the National Power Corporation โ€“ Buhi Barit Watershed Area Team (NPC-BBWAT), in partnership with the Buhi Rural Waterworks and Sanitation Multi-Purpose Cooperative (BRWASA MPC), conducted an Adopt-a-Forest Tree Growing Activity at Sitio Sapa, San Pascual, Buhi, Camarines Sur.
The activity was participated in by members and staff of NPC-BBWAT and BRWASA MPC, together with selected Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science students from the Central Bicol State University of Agriculture (CBSUA).

This initiative forms part of the Memorandum of Partnership (MOP) between NPC-BBWAT and BRWASA MPC, which aims to restore degraded forest areas, strengthen watershed protection, conserve biodiversity, and promote the sustainable management of the Buhi-Barit Watershed Reservation.

Participants planted native and high-value tree species, including Dao, Kamagong, Narra, and Pili, to help restore forest cover, reduce soil erosion, enhance biodiversity, and protect the watershed that supports water resources, food security, and hydropower generation.

Through this partnership, NPC-BBWAT and BRWASA MPC reaffirm their shared commitment to environmental stewardship and the long-term care and survival of the planted seedlings, ensuring lasting benefits for future generations.

Together, we grow forests. Together, we protect our watershed. ๐ŸŒณ๐Ÿ’š

As part of the Brigada Eskwela 2026 campaign, personnel of the Buhi-Barit Watershed Area Team (BBWAT) actively participated in the clean-up and school preparation activities at Dautil National High School in Barangay Monte Calvario, Buhi, Camarines Sur.

This year's Brigada Eskwela carried the theme, โ€œBayanihan sa Paaralan: Nagkakaisa para sa Kaayusan at Kaalaman,โ€ which emphasizes the value of collective action and community involvement in ensuring that schools are safe, clean, and ready for the opening of classes. From June 1 to 5, 2026, teachers, parents, volunteers, and partner agencies worked together to improve school facilities and learning environments in preparation for the new academic year.

In support of this initiative, BBWAT personnel contributed their time and effort in cleaning the school grounds and undertaking minor maintenance activities to help create a more conducive and welcoming environment for both students and teachers. Their participation reflects a shared commitment to promoting quality education through community service and volunteerism.

The activity also strengthened collaboration among various stakeholders and reinforced the spirit of bayanihan, demonstrating that the responsibility of preparing schools for learners extends beyond educators and involves the active participation of the entire community.

Through its involvement in Brigada Eskwela 2026, BBWAT reaffirms its commitment to supporting community-based initiatives that contribute to both educational development and environmental stewardship, recognizing their vital role in building a brighter future for the next generation.

July 31, 2025

In Celebration of Plastic Bag Free Day 2025, the Buhi Barit Watershed Area Team (BBWAT) under the leadership of Engr. Reuel R. Declaro, BBWAT-Section Chief, successfully conducted a clean-up drive on July 30, 2025, at Brgy San Buena โ€“ Santa Elena Lakeshore and Market site in Buhi, Camarines Sur.
This initiative was part of a global environment campaign anchored on this yearโ€™s theme, โ€œUnbag the Future: Choose Sustainable.โ€ The theme underscores the urgent need to reduce dependence on single-use plastics, particularly plastic bags and to promote the use of reusable, environmentally friendly alternatives in everyday life.
The clean-up activity aimed not only to clear waste from key public areas but also to foster environmental awareness and responsible waste management among community members. Participants included MENRO, LDO, PCG, Baranggay Officials and Other Stakeholders, all of whom actively took part in collecting plastic debris and other biodegradable and non-biodegradable litter that had accumulated along the lakeshore and surrounding market area.
The San Buenaventura and Santa Elena Lakeshore area, a critical natural asset of Buhi and a major source of livelihood for fisherfolks and vendors, was identified as a priority site due to its ecological significance and susceptibility to pollution. Improper disposal of plastic waste in the area contributes to lake contamination, threatens aquatic biodiversity, and disrupts the natural balance of the ecosystem.

The success of the activity highlights the power of collective effort. It serves as a timely reminder that small, consistent actions by individuals and communities alike can lead to meaningful progress in achieving a cleaner, healthier and more sustainable environment. ๐Ÿ’š
