As part of the Home-Grown School Feeding (HGSF) program of the World Food Programme (WFP) in the Bangsamoro region, the Provincial Engineering Office of Maguindanao del Sur helped renovate kitchens in several schools across the province. This is to ensure that meals prepared for students are done in clean, safe, and functional spaces.

The HGSF program not only provides daily nutritious meals for schoolchildren but also supports local farmers by using locally sourced ingredients. By improving kitchen facilities, the province is helping to promote better student health, encourage regular school attendance, and support the local economy.

Included in the schools where kitchen renovations were done are:
1. Kulambog Elementary School
2. Reina Regente Elementary School
3. Barurao Elementary School
4. Dado Elementary School
5. Montay Elementary School
6. Mamasapano Elementary School
7. Pidsandawan Elementary School
8. Campo 4 Elementary School

This effort shows the strong partnership between the provincial government and WFP in caring for both the children’s well-being and the future of local communities.

Governor Datu Ali Midtimbang continues to put the welfare of the people of Maguindanao del Sur at the center of his administration’s priorities. As part of this commitment, he has started the construction of multi-purpose food stalls that will be placed in the public markets of different municipalities across the province.

Right now, construction is already ongoing in the towns of Datu Piang, Mamasapano, and Guindulungan. More municipalities will follow next week, including Shariff Aguak, Buluan, Pagalungan, Datu Paglas, Ampatuan, Datu Saudi Ampatuan, Datu Unsay, South Upi, and Datu Anggal Midtimbang.

These food stalls are meant to help local vendors by giving them a clean, organized, and safe space to sell their goods. For many small business owners, this will be a big help in earning a living and supporting their families. At the same time, the stalls will make the public markets more lively, cleaner, and more inviting for customers.

Through this project, the provincial government hopes to support small businesses, improve local markets, and create more opportunities for people in every municipality.

As part of Governor Datu Ali Midtimbang’s ongoing development initiatives for the continuous improvement of Maguindanao del Sur, road shouldering was recently completed along the Old Maganoy to Tukanalipao Road. A total of 2.4 kilometers of roadway was improved through shouldering, enhancing accessibility and ensuring a safer, more efficient passage for motorists and residents in the area.

Road shouldering involves adding compacted material—such as gravel, asphalt millings, or soil—along the edges of a paved road to level and reinforce its sides. This process stabilizes the roadway, prevents erosion, and provides additional space for vehicles to pull over safely in case of emergency.

This kind of improvement, though it might seem minor compared to full road construction, plays a vital role in extending the life of the road and making travel safer and more convenient. Through this initiative, the provincial government continues to show its dedication to building better infrastructure that directly benefits the everyday lives of its people.
