A civil wedding ceremony was conducted at the Municipal Mayor’s Office for Mr. Roden N. Allawas of Barangay Luna and Ms. Grace L. Agtang of Santiago, Ilocos Sur.

The solemn ceremony was officiated by Mayor Annabelle Filart Escobar, who officially united the couple in marriage in the presence of their family members, relatives, and selected guests.

The event highlighted the importance of love, commitment, and family values as the couple exchanged vows and pledged their lifelong devotion to one another. The Local Government Unit of Burgos, Ilocos Sur extends its warm congratulations and best wishes to the newlyweds as they begin a new chapter of their lives together as husband and wife.

May 25, 2026 | Traditional Monday Flag Raising Ceremony

The Local Government Unit of Burgos, Ilocos Sur conducted its traditional Monday Flag Raising Ceremony.

Present during the ceremony were Mayor Annabelle Filart Escobar, members of the Sangguniang Bayan, and municipal employees. Also in attendance were representatives from the Philippine National Police (PNP) Burgos, Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Burgos, Department of Health (DOH), and Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), reaffirming the strong collaboration among government agencies in delivering quality services to the community.

Following the flag-raising rites, the program proceeded with updates and announcements relevant to ongoing municipal programs and activities. PESO Manager-Designate presented an activity report on the recently conducted Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) Orientation.

The PESO Office also formally welcomed the two (2) new Special Program for the Employment of Students (SPES) beneficiaries endorsed by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) – Provincial Operations Office of Ilocos Sur. The new beneficiaries are expected to gain valuable work experience and develop skills that will support their educational and future career goals.

May 16, 2026 | Operation Tuli at the Sapaw-Ni-Ragsak, Burgos, Ilocos Sur.

The Local Government Unit of Burgos, Ilocos Sur headed by Mayor Annabelle Filart Escobar through the Municipal Health Office, in partnership with the Provincial Government of Ilocos Sur under the leadership of Governor Jeremias Jerry Singson through the Provincial Health Office of Ilocos Sur, successfully conducted an Operation Tuli (Free Circumcision Program) aimed at promoting the health and well-being of young boys in the community.

The activity provided free circumcision services to children from different barangays, with a total of 58 successful operations conducted during the event. Several other participants who were initially listed decided to back out prior to the procedure.

The program was organized to help improve the personal hygiene of children and to provide various health benefits associated with circumcision. These benefits include a lower risk of pe**le cancer, phimosis, and urinary tract infections (UTI), as well as better ge***al hygiene and overall health awareness among the youth.

Medical personnel from the Provincial Health Office, together with local health workers and volunteers, ensured the safe and orderly conduct of the activity.

The Local Government Unit extends its sincere appreciation to the Provincial Government of Ilocos Sur, the Provincial Health Office, healthcare workers, and all individuals who contributed to the success of the program and their continued commitment to community health services.

Love and commitment were celebrated as Jeffrey T. Felicitas and Nene Y. Dasalla officially exchanged vows in a civil wedding ceremony solemnized by Mayor Annabelle Filart Escobar.

Held in a simple yet meaningful gathering, the ceremony marked the beginning of a new chapter in the couple’s lives as husband and wife. The union was witnessed by their family, friends, and principal sponsors who gathered to share in the joyous occasion and offer their love and support to the newlyweds.

The Local Government Unit of Burgos, Ilocos Sur in partnership with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), conducted the orientation for the implementation of the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) Program for 358 beneficiaries who are set to render service in their respective barangays for twenty (20) working days.

The activity was attended by Mayor Annabelle Filart Escobar, Vice Mayor Riolita R. Balbalan, and members of the Municipal Officials who showed their support for the program and its beneficiaries.

During the program, Mayor Escobar delivered an inspirational message emphasizing the importance of community service, hard work, and the positive impact of the TUPAD Program in providing temporary employment and financial assistance to the beneficiaries and their families.

The orientation proper was facilitated by Michelle B. Lopez from the DOLE Field Office I, who discussed the guidelines, responsibilities, safety protocols, and other important reminders for the beneficiaries throughout the duration of the program.

Today also marked the official first day of the beneficiaries’ twenty (20) working days in their assigned barangays.

The Local Government Unit of Burgos, Ilocos Sur conducted the Traditional Monday Flag Raising Ceremony with the presence of Mayor Annabelle Filart Escobar, Vice Mayor Riolita R. Balbalan together with the Sangguniang Bayan Members, Municipal Officials, MLGOO Engr. Isidora E. Vendiola, personnel of PNP Burgos, BFP Burgos, DTI, DOH, and DepEd.

Following the flag raising ceremony, Ma’am Veronica R. Vilog was formally introduced as the new Public Schools District Supervisor of the Burgos-San Esteban District.

Mayor Annabelle F. Escobar presented the Local Government Unit’s activity report for the previous week which highlighted the successful conduct of the 4Ps Graduation Ceremony, distribution of fuel subsidy to registered BTODA drivers, and the distribution of cash assistance to solo parents in celebration of Solo Parent Week.

Meanwhile, Dr. Angelica Rocelle M. Pablico also delivered a report regarding the successful conduct of Operation Tuli held last May 16, 2026, as part of the municipality’s continuing health initiatives for the community.

May 12, 2026 | Pantawid Pamilya Graduation Ceremony

The Local Government Unit of Burgos, Ilocos Sur headed by Mayor Annabelle Filart Escobar in partnership with the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) Municipal Operations Office and the 4Ps Provincial Operations Office represented by Provincial Grievance Officer Candy Salazar, conducted the 4Ps Graduation Ceremony honoring the program beneficiaries who have successfully completed their journey under the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program.

A total of 98 beneficiaries officially graduated from the 4Ps program, marking a significant milestone in their journey towards self-sufficiency and improved quality of life.

The program formally opened with the opening remarks delivered by SBM Ben Marius Gabriel F. Escobar, who acknowledged the perseverance and dedication of the graduating beneficiaries and emphasized the importance of continued community support for sustainable development.

This was followed by a walkthrough presented by Municipal Link Jessa T. Azada, An acceptance speech was then delivered by Mayor Annabelle F. Escobar, expressing her appreciation to the partner agencies, stakeholders, and beneficiaries for their commitment to the objectives of the 4Ps program.

One of the highlights of the event was the ceremonial signing of the Sustainability Plan and the formal declaration of the Municipal Ordinance in support of 4Ps graduating households.

Another highlight of the event was the distribution of certificates and tokens consisting of rice and grocery food packs to each graduates.

To conclude the activity, Mrs. Roselin A. Atendido, Municipal Social Welfare and Development Officer, delivered the closing remarks, encouraging the graduates to continue striving for progress and to become instruments of positive change within their respective communities.

May 11, 2026 | Solo Parent Week Celebration and Distribution of Cash Assistance.

The Local Government Unit of Burgos, Ilocos Sur headed by Mayor Annabelle Filart Escobar through the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office conducted the Solo Parent Week Celebration cm Distribution of LGU Funded Cash Assistance for solo parents in the locality at the Municipal Civic Center. A total of ninety-two (92) local beneficiaries received cash assistance amounting to Five Thousand Pesos (₱5,000.00) each as part of the municipality’s continued support and recognition of the important role of solo parents in the community.

The program formally commenced with the Opening and Welcome Remarks delivered by SBM Avigael Joyce A. Ayson, Committee Chair on Women and Family, who expressed gratitude to all the participants and emphasized the importance of empowering and supporting solo parents through meaningful programs and services.

This was followed by a message from Vice Mayor Riolita R. Balbalan, who acknowledged the strength, sacrifices, and dedication of solo parents in raising their families despite various challenges.

An inspirational message was likewise delivered by Mayor Annabelle F. Escobar, who reaffirmed the local government’s commitment to promoting the welfare of solo parents and ensuring that assistance programs continue to reach those in need.

Thereafter, Ms. Estrella Sibul, President of the Naraniag Solo Parent Association, delivered a response message expressing her heartfelt gratitude to the Local Government Unit for the continuous support, assistance, and recognition being extended to solo parents in the municipality.

The activity concluded with the Closing Remarks delivered by SBM Ben Marius Gabriel F. Escobar, Committee Vice Chair on Women and Family, who thanked everyone involved in the successful conduct of the event and encouraged the beneficiaries to continue striving for the betterment of their families and community.
