CEREMONIAL TURNOVER OF THE KOTA KALAWI ARCHAEOLOGICAL REPORT

From the excavation site to our archives, the Kota Kalawi Archaeological Report now becomes part of the documented history of Lanao del Sur.

The ceremonial turnover held today at the Social Hall, New Capitol, Marawi City marks another step in research, documentation, and preservation. The report records the findings and stories uncovered through the archaeological work in Bacolod-Kalawi, Lanao del Sur.

The report signifies the completion of the Archaeological Excavation conducted in Kota Kalawi of Bacolod Kalawi, Lanao del Sur. It is a remarkable mission of the Bangsamoro Commission for the Preservation of Cultural Heritage and the University of the Philippines School of Archaeology, in partnership with the Provincial Government of Lanao del Sur, that put Lanao del Sur in the archaeological map of the country.

By keeping this knowledge safe and accessible, we help ensure that the history of our province will continue to be understood and appreciated by future generations.

The 18th Regional Travel Fair Business-to-Consumer Sessions brought travel deals and discounts to the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao! โœˆ๏ธ

The Tourism Promotions Board (TPB) Philippines welcomed tourism stakeholders and travelers from across the country to the Regional Travel Fairโ€™s (RTF) two-day Business-to-Consumer (B2C) sessions on August 15โ€“16, 2026, at the Alnor Hotel and Convention Center in Cotabato City.

During the opening ceremony, TPB Chief Operating Officer Maria Margarita Montemayor Nograles and Cotabato City Mayor Mohammad Ali โ€˜Bruceโ€™ Matabalao delivered their inspirational messages, while Department of Tourism Undersecretary for Tourism Regulation, Coordination and Resource Generation Atty. Maria Victoria Jasmin delivered the keynote message.

Also present during the B2C were Tourism Board Representative and Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA) Assistant Chief Operating Officer Dr. Rosanna Olgado, TPB Acting Head of the Marketing and Promotions Sector Teresita DL. Landan, TPB Domestic Promotions Department (DPD) Manager Arnold T. Gonzales, and TPB DPD Sales Division Chief Cesar Villanueva.

DOT Regional Directors were also present at the event, including RD Catherine Agustin (NCR), RD Troy Alexander Gozum Miano (Cagayan Valley), RD Marites T. Castro (CALABARZON), RD Nelia โ€œKingโ€ R. Arina (SOCCSKSARGEN), and RD Ivonnie Dumadag (Caraga).

The BARMM Minister of Trade, Investments and Tourism (MTIT) was represented by Bureau of Tourism Director Marites K. Maguindra.

More than just a travel marketplace, the two-day event invited travelers to discover BARMM through its communities, traditions, and destinations, while 12 regions from across the Philippines showcased their diverse tourism products and experiences. From connecting with local tourism offices to visiting less-explored places, the fair offered an avenue for travelers to discover whatโ€™s in the region.

The Municipality of Butig, represented by the Municipal Tourism Office, joined regional and national tourism stakeholders at the 18th Regional Travel Fair (RTF 2026), held on August 13โ€“16, 2026, at the Alnor Convention Center, Cotabato City.

Hosted by MTIT-BARMM in partnership with the Department of Tourism (DOT) and the Tourism Promotions Board (TPB), the event aimed to promote BARMMโ€™s cultural heritage and eco-tourism assets while building valuable investment and trade partnerships across the country.

LGU Butig stood alongside fellow Lanao del Sur delegatesโ€”including MTIT-LDS, LGU Balabagan, Ranaw Business Hotel, and LDS Brasswareโ€”in highlighting the province's rich heritage and tourism opportunities.

This milestone endeavor was fully supported by Municipal Mayor Hon. Bin Khalifa L. Pansar and Vice Mayor Hon. Atty. Dimnatang BL. Pansar, reinforcing LGU Butig's advocacy for sustainable community growth through tourism.

BUTIG BEYOND BEAUTY

At the Ranaw Heritage Village 2026, the LGU Butig Booth proudly showcased the rich natural wonders, cultural heritage, and local products that make our municipality truly unique.

Visitors were welcomed by beautifully crafted miniatures of Butig's iconic tourist destinations, including the breathtaking Mineral Falls, Kampilan Falls, Butig Nature's View (Sumpit), the serene Lake Butigโ€”a declared National Parkโ€”and the majestic Mt. Makaturing and Mt. Piyapayungan, famously known as the Sleeping Beauty Mountain. These attractions reflect the extraordinary beauty and eco-tourism potential of our beloved municipality.

Our booth also highlighted treasured Meranaw antiques such as the Baur, Gador, Dbak, and the Pdang (traditional sword), each representing the rich history, craftsmanship, and enduring traditions of the people of Butig.

Adding elegance to the exhibit was the Datu A Bantogen-inspired cultural attire, designed using the intricate Balod textile and adorned with authentic Meranaw cultural art patterns. The attire symbolizes the bravery, nobility, and artistic heritage that have been passed down through generations.

To complete the Butig experience, guests enjoyed our proudly made local delicacies, including the famous Dodol and our aromatic native coffee, both prepared from locally sourced ingredients that reflect the warmth and hospitality of our community.

Through this showcase, LGU Butig proudly shared not only our tourist destinations and local products, but also our identity, culture, and traditions. We are grateful to everyone who visited our booth and experienced the true essence of "Butig Beyond Beauty."

As we conclude the successful week-long celebration of the Ranaw Heritage Village held from July 4 to July 10, 2026, the Local Government Unit of Butig, through the leadership of Mayor Hon. Bin Khalifa L. Pansar and Vice Mayor Hon. Atty. Dimnatang BL Pansar, extends its deepest gratitude to the Provincial Government of Lanao del Sur for organizing a meaningful celebration that showcased the rich culture, history, traditions, and identity of every municipality across the province.

To everyone who visited the LGU Butig Booth, thank you for your overwhelming support and warm appreciation. It was our honor to share with you the beauty of our municipality through our cultural heritage, local products, tourism destinations, and the genuine hospitality of the people of Butig.

Matuto at mamangha sa yaman ng ating kultura! Dito sa aming booth, mararanasan ninyo ang ganda at kwento ng Butig. Masdan ang mga detalyadong miniatures ng ating mga sikat na tourist spots gaya ng Mt. Makaturing at ating mga naggagandahang waterfalls.
