Matagumpay na naisagawa ang dispersal ng 50 upgraded carabaos sa bayan ng Tagana-an, Surigao del Norte noong Agosto 18, 2026, sa pangunguna ng Bureau of Animal Industry – National Organic Agriculture Program (BAI-NOAP).
Katuwang ang Lokal na Pamahalaan ng Tagana-an at Department of Agriculture – Regional Field Office XIII (DA-RFO XIII), naisakatuparan ang programa alinsunod sa DA Memorandum Circular Blg. 17, s. 2024.
Pero higit pa ito sa simpleng dispersal. Layunin nitong palakasin ang kabuhayan ng mga organikong magsasaka at isulong ang mas napapanatili at makakalikasan na sistema ng organikong paghahayupan sa bansa.
Suportahan ang organikong pagsasaka tungo sa mas masagana at napapanatiling kinabukasan!

SUPORTA SA ORGANIKONG MAG-UUMA | Aron makatabang sa pagsulbad sa kakulangon sa lokal nga suplay sa karne ug mapalig-on ang panginabuhian sa mga mag-uuma, ang Department of Agriculture–National Organic Agriculture Program (DA-NOAP), pinaagi sa Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI), nag-apod-apod og 50 ka kabaw ngadto sa mga mag-uuma sa Tagana-an, Surigao del Norte niadtong Agosto 18, 2026.

Ang dispersal kabahin sa Organic Large Ruminants Dispersal Program, nga nagtumong sa pagpalig-on sa produksyon sa kabaw ug pagpasiugda sa malungtarong panginabuhian pinaagi sa pag-atiman ug pagpamuhi og kahayopan.

Pinaagi sa panagtambayayong sa BAI, DA-Caraga, ug Local Government Unit (LGU) sa Tagana-an, napili ang 50 ka benepisyaryo gikan sa Barangay Union, Upper Libas, Lower Libas, Laurel, Aurora, Himama-ug, ug Opong. Gilauman nga kini nga suporta makahatag og dugang oportunidad aron mapalambo pa nila ang ilang panginabuhian.

Matag benepisyaryo nakadawat og usa ka baye nga kabaw, nga anaa sa hustong pangidaron ug andam na alang sa pagpamuhi ug pagpasanay.

Alang kang Rodel Buasa, usa sa mga benepisyaryo gikan sa Barangay Opong, dako nga tabang ang programa alang sa ilang pamilya ug komunidad. “Dako kini nga tabang sa amoa. Amo kining ampingan, palambuon ug padaghanon ang among mga kabaw aron ma-share pa namo sa among mga kauban nga mag-uuma. Pinaagi niini, mudaghan ang kabaw ug makatabang sa among panginabuhi.”

Aron masiguro ang pagpadayon ug pagpalapad sa dispersal, nagpatuman ang proyekto og pay-forward scheme, diin ang matag benepisyaryo mohatag sa unang anak o nati sa ilang nadawat nga kabaw ngadto sa sunod nga kwalipikadong benepisyaryo.

Kabahin usab sa sustainability plan ang pagtabang sa LGU sa marketing ug value-adding services alang sa mga benepisyaryo, lakip na ang plano sa pag-establisar og slaughterhouse aron mas mapalambo ang pagproseso ug pagbaligya sa ilang mga produkto.

Dugang nga proteksyon alang sa mga benepisyaryo ang libreng livestock insurance pinaagi sa Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation (PCIC).

Sa wala pa ang dispersal, ang 50 ka benepisyaryo miapil usab sa Organic Carabao Production Training niadtong Abril 21–22, 2026, aron mapalawom ang ilang kahibalo ug kahanas sa hustong pag-atiman, pagpamuhi, ug pagpasanay sa kabaw.

FROM OFW TO AGRIPRENEUR | Sulod sa 17 ka tuig, nahimong Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) si Judy Emma Yamit Manul. Apan uban sa iyang bana, iyang gipiling mopauli sa Butuan City aron mas mapaduol sa ilang pamilya.

Ang ilang pagpauli nahimong bag-ong sinugdanan. Natukod ang ANAIA Integrated Farm diin ilang gisunod ang pamaagi sa natural farming, usa ka pamaagi nga naghatag og bili dili lamang sa produksyon, kundili usab sa pag-atiman sa yuta ug kinaiyahan.

Pinaagi sa ASPIRE 2026, nahatagan sila og higayon nga mas maila sa publiko ang ilang mga produkto nga direktang gikan sa uma, lakip ang mga value-added products nga ilang gi-proseso. Napamatud-an ni Judy nga kung magkugi adunay ma-ani!

🌾PRESERVING THE SEEDS OF TOMORROW | Safeguarding rice varieties today for the farms and communities of tomorrow.

At the rice seed laboratory of the San Isidro Parish Binucayan Area Farmers Multi-Purpose Cooperative (SIPBAFAMCO) in Loreto, Agusan del Sur, rice seeds are carefully stored in glass bottles.

A layer of ash is placed at the bottom to help protect the seeds from moisture. Once filled, each bottle is sealed with wax to keep its contents safe for future planting.

Through the seed laboratory of its organic rice processing enterprise, SIPBAFAMCO hopes to preserve different rice varieties and ensure that these seeds remain available to future generations of farmers.

🌾HEALTHY GRAINS, HEALTHY PLANET | Growing rice with care for consumers, farms, and the environment.

In Loreto, Agusan del Sur, Nerlita Caseria of the San Isidro Parish Binucayan Area Farmers Multi-Purpose Cooperative (SIPBAFAMCO) checks the organic rice produced by the cooperative’s farmers.

Organic rice farming promotes practices that reduce reliance on synthetic fertilizers and pesticides while supporting healthier soils, farm biodiversity, and more sustainable production. For consumers, it also provides another locally produced food option grown according to recognized organic standards.

Through its PRDP-supported organic rice processing enterprise, SIPBAFAMCO can consolidate, process, and prepare its members’ harvest for the market while maintaining product quality and organic integrity. Better processing allows the cooperative to add value to locally grown rice, respond to increasing demand, and create stronger market opportunities for its farmer-members.

SOFA and SOEMCO are beneficiaries of the 2023 Organic Agriculture Livelihood Project (OALP), while SIPBAFAMCO and MSC-CEPAGCO are beneficiaries under the 2024 OALP.

The activity was graced by the presence of 𝘿𝙞𝙧𝙚𝙘𝙩𝙤𝙧 𝘽𝙚𝙧𝙣𝙖𝙙𝙚𝙩𝙩𝙚 𝙁. 𝙎𝙖𝙣 𝙅𝙪𝙖𝙣, 𝘾𝙀𝙎𝙊 𝙄𝙄, National Director of the National Organic Agriculture Program (NOAP), highlighting the Department's continuing commitment to strengthening organic farming communities and ensuring the sustainability of organic agriculture initiatives.

The 𝙊𝙧𝙜𝙖𝙣𝙞𝙘 𝘼𝙜𝙧𝙞𝙘𝙪𝙡𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚 𝙇𝙞𝙫𝙚𝙡𝙞𝙝𝙤𝙤𝙙 𝙋𝙧𝙤𝙟𝙚𝙘𝙩 (𝙊𝘼𝙇𝙋) is a flagship initiative of the National Organic Agriculture Program that empowers organic farmers' organizations by establishing sustainable enterprises for organic production, processing, value-adding, and marketing. Through the provision of appropriate facilities, equipment, and support services, OALP enhances farmers' productivity, expands market opportunities, and promotes a resilient and sustainable organic agriculture sector.

The assessment also served as a valuable venue to determine the current status of the projects, evaluate their operationalization, identify challenges encountered by the beneficiary organizations, and determine the technical and institutional support needed to sustain and further strengthen the livelihood projects.

Together, these efforts reaffirm the Department's commitment to empowering organic farmers and building sustainable, resilient agricultural communities throughout the Caraga Region.

𝐒𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐅𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐎𝐫𝐠𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐜 𝐀𝐠𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞: 𝐃𝐀–𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐠𝐚 𝐇𝐨𝐥𝐝𝐬 𝐑𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐎𝐀 𝐂𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐩

Laying the foundation for a stronger and more sustainable future for organic agriculture in Caraga, the Department of Agriculture – Caraga Region, through the Organic Agriculture Program (OAP), convened key stakeholders during the Regional Organic Agriculture (OA) Center Planning Workshop to collaboratively shape the roadmap for the establishment of the region's future Regional Organic Agriculture Center.

The workshop served as a strategic platform for identifying priority organic agriculture commodities, programs, and interventions while developing a practical roadmap for the establishment and future implementation of the Regional Organic Agriculture Center. Participants also gained valuable insights into the evolution of the National Organic Agriculture Program (NOAP), the policy and governance framework under Republic Act No. 10068, as amended by Republic Act No. 11511, and the proposed organizational structure and key functions of the Regional Organic Agriculture Centers.

The activity was led by National Organic Agriculture Program Director Bernadette F. San Juan, CESO II, and was graced by Department of Agriculture – Caraga Regional Technical Director for Operations Rebecca R. Atega and Vice Mayor Maria Liza Llamanilao-Evangelista of Sibagat, Agusan del Sur. Their presence highlighted the strong collaboration among the national government, local government units, and organic agriculture stakeholders in advancing a more resilient and sustainable agricultural sector.

Once established, the Regional Organic Agriculture Center will serve as a hub for research and farm production, certification and extension services, and administrative, finance, and business support. It is envisioned to strengthen the delivery of technical services, enhance farmers' access to organic technologies and certification, and create greater opportunities for innovation, capacity building, and market development across the region.

Through initiatives such as this, the Department of Agriculture – Caraga Region, through the Organic Agriculture Program (OAP), continues to strengthen partnerships and reaffirm its commitment to empowering organic farmers, promoting sustainable agricultural practices, and fostering a vibrant and resilient organic agriculture sector for the benefit of present and future generations in Caraga.

The monitoring activity evaluated the implementation and current status of the 𝟱𝟬 𝙝𝙚𝙖𝙙𝙨 𝙤𝙛 𝙘𝙖𝙩𝙩𝙡𝙚 dispersed to the 𝙇𝙤𝙘𝙖𝙡 𝙂𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙣𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙐𝙣𝙞𝙩 𝙤𝙛 𝙎𝙞𝙗𝙖𝙜𝙖𝙩 𝙡𝙖𝙨𝙩 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱. The assessment focused on the health and condition of the animals, production performance, management practices, and the overall progress of the project to ensure that the intervention continues to achieve its objectives of promoting sustainable organic livestock production and enhancing local beef production.

The activity was graced by the presence of 𝙑𝙞𝙘𝙚 𝙈𝙖𝙮𝙤𝙧 𝙈𝙖𝙧𝙞𝙖 𝙇𝙞𝙯𝙖 𝙇. 𝙀𝙫𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙚𝙡𝙞𝙨𝙩𝙖, Vice Mayor of the Municipality of Sibagat; 𝙀𝙣𝙜𝙧. 𝘾𝙤𝙣𝙣𝙚𝙮 𝘽. 𝘼𝙣𝙪𝙣𝙘𝙞𝙖𝙙𝙤, Officer-in-Charge of the Municipal Agriculture Office; 𝙈𝙨. 𝘾𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙧𝙮 𝙀𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙘𝙞𝙤𝙣, LGU Organic Agriculture Focal Person; and 𝙈𝙧. 𝘼𝙡𝙡𝙖𝙣 𝙋𝙚𝙧𝙚𝙯, Chairman of the Sibagat Organic Farmers Association. Their steadfast support underscores the strong partnership between the Department of Agriculture and the Local Government Unit in advancing organic agriculture initiatives within the municipality.

𝙎𝙖𝙣 𝙅𝙪𝙖𝙣, 𝘾𝙀𝙎𝙊 𝙄𝙄, Director of the National Organic Agriculture Program, together with the National Organic Agriculture Program (NOAP) Team and the Department of Agriculture – Regional Field Office XIII Organic Agriculture Program (Caraga). The team's visit highlights the Department's commitment to ensuring that government-funded interventions are effectively implemented, properly managed, and continue to generate sustainable benefits for farming communities.

The 𝙊𝙧𝙜𝙖𝙣𝙞𝙘 𝙇𝙖𝙧𝙜𝙚 𝙍𝙪𝙢𝙞𝙣𝙖𝙣𝙩 𝘿𝙞𝙨𝙥𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙖𝙡 𝙋𝙧𝙤𝙜𝙧𝙖𝙢 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝘽𝙚𝙚𝙛 𝙋𝙧𝙤𝙙𝙪𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 is one of the flagship initiatives of the National Organic Agriculture Program aimed at strengthening the country's organic livestock industry, increasing local beef production, and supporting farmers through sustainable and climate-resilient agricultural practices. Through continuous monitoring, technical guidance, and close collaboration with local government units and farmers' organizations, the Department of Agriculture remains committed to building a resilient and productive organic agriculture sector for the benefit of present and future generations.
