EARLIER THIS WEEK | The 4th Quarter Meeting of the Regional Inter-Agency Committee on Filipino Family (RIAC-FF) and the Regional Inter-Agency Coordinating and Monitoring Committee (RIACMC) for the Implementation of R.A 11861 was conducted on December 01, 2025 at Watergate Hotel, Butuan City.

The meeting was presided by Ms. Melanie G. Juan, Head of Sectoral Unit of DSWD Field Office Caraga. The gathering served as a platform to reflect on recent milestones, including the meaningful celebration of National Filipino Family Week — a testament to the commitment in advancing the advocacy in uplifting Filipino Families towards a Matatag, Maginhawa at Panatag na Pamilya sa Bagong Pilipinas.

A significant highlight was the discussion on the expansion of initiatives on capacitating LGUs in becoming Solo Parent Champions through intensifying awareness of the rights and benefits of the Solo Parents. An orientation on Pamilya sa Bagong Pilipinas Program was also conducted by Ms. Cristal Urot, Head of Social Technology Unit of DSWD Caraga. This program is piloted in Dapa, Surigao Del Norte which aims to create a supportive environment for Filipino Families to access various social welfare services from the government.

The committee was able to pass two resolutions, recognizing that policy advocacy is the key for influencing better delivery of programs and services and enhancing monitoring mechanisms on the implementation of programs in the ground. Together, we move forward — guided by compassion, collaboration, and a shared vision for a more just and supportive society for every Filipino family.

September 26, 2025| DSWD Field Office Caraga - Family Day!

Our parent-employees gathered as one DSWD family for a meaningful Family Enrichment Session.

Ms. Sheamin Lae C. Dogmoc of the Commission on Human Rights shared her valuable insights on Non-Violent Communication, a framework that teaches us to listen with empathy, speak with honesty, and express our feelings and needs with clarity. She reminded the participants that while relationships may not always be easy, choosing compassion and open communication helps us truly understand and be understood, especially in our homes.

JSInsp. Richard C. Recososa, RN (Ret.), Senior Pastor of Highways of Praise Global Ministry, also led a heartfelt discussion on mental health and family relationships. He reminded everyone that imperfections in families are not weaknesses, but opportunities to grow in courage, embrace grace, and hold on to faith through the highs and lows of family life.

In the afternoon, the celebration turned joyful and exciting with Larong Pinoy, where teamwork, laughter, and sportsmanship shone brightly—truly reflecting the spirit of being one family in DSWD.

Indeed, stronger families build a stronger nation!
