ATTENTION SK OFFICIALS!

Thought I’d share this new update, might be exactly what you need today!

To clarify recent inquiries regarding term limits under Republic Act No. 12232:

✅ THE GOOD NEWS:
Incumbent Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) officials who were elected during the October 30, 2023 elections MAY SEEK REELECTION for the SAME POSITION in the upcoming November 2, 2026 Barangay and SK Elections (BSKE).

📋 QUALIFICATIONS:
To be eligible to run again, you must:
Possess all the required legal qualifications (including being 18–24 years old but not more than 24 at the day of election).
Not be subject to any disqualification at the time of filing your Certificate of Candidacy (COC).

🔍 WHY IS THIS ALLOWED?
Under the COMELEC's official interpretation, the "one-term limit" for the same position established by RA 12232 applies prospectively. This means the restriction will officially start counting for officials elected in the 2026 polls and onwards.

🗓️ SAVE THE DATE:
Election Day: November 2, 2026.
COC Filing: September 28 – October 5, 2026.

As we end the vibrant and unforgettable 66th Celebration of Araw ng Buug, my heart is nothing but grateful. 🤍🎉🪅

For 66 years, Buug has stood strong — growing, thriving, and continuing to prove that even a humble town can shine so brightly! Throughout the support of our beloved Mayor Dionesia Lagas, Vice Mayor Lagas, SB Members, LGU Head office , Tourism Officer and LGU Staff. This celebration wasn’t just about parades, lights, music, and festivities. It was about unity. It was about remembering where we started and honoring the journey that brought us here.

To everyone who worked behind the scenes, the organizers, performers, sponsors, local leaders, and every single Buuganon who participated with pride — thank you.

Araw ng Buug is more than an event. It’s a reminder that we are one community, bound by culture, resilience, and shared dreams. Through challenges and triumphs, we continue to move forward together. And as we celebrate this milestone here in Zamboanga Sibugay, we carry with us the hope for a brighter, more progressive future.

This will be the end of my term. May we continue to support one another, uplift our local talents, strengthen our traditions, and build opportunities for the next generation. The celebration may end, but the spirit of Buug — strong, proud, and united — will always live on.

The Local Youth Development Council (LYDC) of Buug successfully conducted its 1st Quarter Meeting, bringing together youth leaders and representatives from various youth-serving organizations to review accomplishments and align priority plans for the year.

The 1st Regular Session of the Sangguniang Kabataan Federation of the Province of Zamboanga Sibugay was successfully conducted on January 22, 2026 at Isla ng Olutanga , marking a strong and meaningful start for the year. This gathering brought together SK leaders from different municipalities, united by one goal—to strengthen youth leadership and advance programs that truly serve our fellow young people.

This meeting reminded us that youth leadership is rooted in responsibility, service, and unity. As young leaders, we carry the voice of our generation and the duty to turn ideas into actions that create positive and lasting impact in our communities.
