Starting April 24, 2026, taxpayers may access their Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) Digital TIN ID through the Department of Information and Communications Technology - DICT eGovPH App Mobile ID Wallet.

The Digital TIN ID is available to taxpayers with Digital TIN IDs generated through the Online Registration and Update System (ORUS), as well as taxpayers with existing TINs whose profile details match their eGovPH App registration.

Commissioner Charlito Martin R. Mendoza described the launch as another step in expanding digital access to BIR services and in making public services more convenient and accessible through the eGovPH App.

Developed by the DICT, the eGovPH App streamlines access to government services by bringing national and local government services into one platform. It uses a secure electronic Know-Your-Customer (eKYC) process, including facial recognition, to verify user identity and help ensure the confidentiality and integrity of taxpayer data.

CABARROGUIS, Quirino (PIA) โ€” The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) Revenue District Office (RDO) 16 is aiming to collect P828.7 million in 2026, a 12 percent increase from its P739.9 million total collection in 2025.

Collection Chief Al Ryan Zambrano said the district has consistently met its collection targets from 2023 to 2025 and is now working toward a fourth consecutive year of achievement.

He noted that collections from January to February this year fell short of targets, but performance rebounded in March with an overcollection of about P7 million compared to the same period last year.

โ€œFor April, the district is targeting P84 million,โ€ Zambrano said, expressing optimism that more taxpayers will meet their obligations.

Zambrano added that the bulk of collections comes from national government agencies (NGAs), local government units (LGUs), and top taxpayers under the Taxpayer Account Management Program (TAMP).

In 2025, Quirino ranked 42nd out of more than 125 revenue district offices nationwide, while Revenue Region No. 3 (Cagayan Valley) placed eighth overall.

Meanwhile, Assistant Revenue District Officer Atty. Lavella Tolentino announced that, under Revenue Memorandum Circular No. 030-2026 issued by Commissioner Charlito Martin R. Mendoza, the deadline for filing 2025 Annual Income Tax Returns (AITR) and paying taxes has been extended from April 15 to May 15, 2026.

She said the extension gives taxpayers more time to comply but warned that late filings will still incur penalties, surcharges, and interest.

Tolentino also cited the agencyโ€™s โ€˜friendly tax mappingโ€™ initiative as a factor in improving taxpayer awareness and compliance. However, she acknowledged that external challenges, such as the oil crisis, have affected taxpayers, although current collections correspond to the taxable year 2025.

She urged taxpayers to fulfill their obligations, emphasizing that tax revenues are essential to sustaining government services.

Tolentino added that the district continues to align its efforts with the BIRโ€™s five-point priority reform agenda, known as DARESโ€”Digital and Data Transformation, Audit Reform and Accountability, Revenue Collection and Base Protection, Employee Empowerment and Welfare Promotion, and Service Excellence.

โ€œThese reforms aim to modernize services, reduce human intervention, and enhance taxpayer engagement through seminars and webinars under the leadership of the new BIR commissioner,โ€ she said.

Despite these initiatives, Tolentino admitted that the office has yet to fully meet key performance indicators, particularly in enforcing compliance among businesses that fail to issue official receipts.

She said stricter monitoring and inspections will be conducted in the coming months to address violations, including underdeclaration of income and outdated sales records. (OTB/TCB/PIA-2, Quirino)

The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) has issued Revenue Memorandum Circular No. 30-2026, extending the deadline to May 15, 2026 for the filing of 2025 Annual Income Tax Returns, payment of the corresponding taxes due thereon, and submission of required attachments.

โ€œIn line with the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., this extension is meant to make tax compliance easier for taxpayers at a time when many are managing added strain from the ongoing energy crisis,โ€ Commissioner Charlito Martin R. Mendoza said.

Taxpayers may file through the BIRโ€™s electronic filing platforms and pay electronically through available payment platforms, or manually through the nearest Authorized Agent Banks.
