Today, February 4, 2026, marks a meaningful milestone as Christian Braceros officially took his Oath of Office as the new Sangguniang Kabataan Chairperson. This significant event symbolizes a renewed commitment to serve the youth and uphold responsible, transparent, and active leadership in the community.

The oath-taking ceremony was formally headed by Honorable Mayor Josh Edward Cobangbang, together with Vice Mayor Edgardo Cobangbang Jr., and MLGOO Eloisa Regucera, whose presence highlighted the strong support of the local government for youth empowerment and good governance.

Also present was the Barangay Council, led by Barangay Captain Honorable Rowena Aireen G. Benavidez, showing unity and cooperation between barangay officials and the youth council in working toward programs that will benefit the entire community.

May this new term be filled with dedication, integrity, and meaningful initiatives that will inspire the youth to take part in nation-building. Congratulations, Chairperson Christian Braceros!

Awards 2025 organized by the Panlalawigang Pederasyon ng mga Sangguniang Kabataan – Ilocos Sur.

This honor stands as a true testament to the Natinggaw nga Aweng spirit — the resilience, unity, and genuine service of every Agtutubo ti Cabugao who continues to lead with heart, vision, and purpose.

In Observance of the 2025 International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking (IDADAIT), the Barangay Council and the Sangguniang Kabataan of Barangay Maradodon came together to lead a meaningful and educational activity for the pupils of Maradodon Elementary School.

This initiative focused on raising awareness about the dangers of drug use and abuse, including the use of ci******es, alcohol, and illegal drugs like shabu. With the theme centered on early prevention, the activity aimed to remind and teach the youth to stay away from harmful substances that can affect not just their health, but also their future.

Serving as the speakers for the event were SK Chairperson Rey Benavidez and Barangay Kagawad Winnie Sonico Sr., who is also the Chairperson of the Peace and Order Committee. They shared their knowledge, experiences, and encouragement to the young learners, emphasizing the importance of saying no to drugs and making wise, healthy choices even at a young age.

The Barangay believes that prevention starts with education, and educating our children early is one of the best ways to break the cycle of drug use and abuse in our communities. By helping them understand the risks and consequences, we are empowering them to grow into responsible and drug-free citizens.

Through the combined efforts of the Barangay, the SK, and the support of the school, this activity serves as a reminder that protecting our youth from the dangers of drugs is a shared responsibility — and it starts now.

Together, let us build a safer, healthier, and drug-free Barangay Maradodon.
