Before ๐‰๐ฎ๐ง๐ž ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ became our official Independence Day, it was actually celebrated every ๐‰๐ฎ๐ฅ๐ฒ ๐Ÿ’. In ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ—๐Ÿ”๐Ÿ, President Diosdado Macapagal moved the celebration of Independence Day to June 12 through Proclamation No. 28 ๐ญ๐จ ๐ก๐จ๐ง๐จ๐ซ ๐ญ๐ก๐ž ๐๐ž๐œ๐ฅ๐š๐ซ๐š๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง ๐จ๐Ÿ ๐๐ก๐ข๐ฅ๐ข๐ฉ๐ฉ๐ข๐ง๐ž ๐ข๐ง๐๐ž๐ฉ๐ž๐ง๐๐ž๐ง๐œ๐ž ๐ข๐ง ๐Š๐š๐ฐ๐ข๐ญ, ๐‚๐š๐ฏ๐ข๐ญ๐ž ๐จ๐ง ๐‰๐ฎ๐ง๐ž ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ, ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ–๐Ÿ—๐Ÿ–. This change was later formalized through Republic Act No. 4166 in 1964.

Today, we remember the courage and sacrifices of the Filipinos who fought for the freedom we enjoy today. More than a celebration of our history, Independence Day is a reminder that freedom comes with responsibilityโ€”to make good choices, serve our communities, and contribute to a better future for our country.

As we honor our past, may we continue to carry the spirit of patriotism, unity, and resilience in everything we do.
