Another fun-filled๐ŸŽ‰ IEC-Lecture about the Giant Clam Village Protected Area (GCVPA) & the Importance of Conservation and Protection of our Marine Resources was conducted at Hon. Pedro R. Villena Memorial Elementary School, Brgy. Sicaba last August 24, 2026.

Attended by 151 Grade 5 & 6 students and teachers, the activity full of lectures and games lasted more than an hour and ended with a blast of enthusiasm & smiles. ๐Ÿ˜ Our sincerest appreciation for the effort of Maโ€™am Hazel and the teachers for the activity to be held despite the brown-out. โฃ๏ธ

May the lessons brought to the students be instilled in their thoughts and hearts. Until next time!

Here at the ๐†๐ข๐š๐ง๐ญ ๐‚๐ฅ๐š๐ฆ ๐•๐ข๐ฅ๐ฅ๐š๐ ๐ž, spawning season is not only an โœจ๐ž๐ง๐œ๐จ๐ฎ๐ซ๐š๐ ๐ข๐ง๐  ๐ฌ๐ข๐ ๐งโœจ of successful conservation and protection efforts but also a feast for survival.

This documented spawning event of giant clams shows the ๐—ผ๐—ฝ๐—ฝ๐—ผ๐—ฟ๐˜๐˜‚๐—ป๐—ถ๐˜€๐˜๐—ถ๐—ฐ ๐—ป๐—ฎ๐˜๐˜‚๐—ฟ๐—ฒ of marine organisms๐ŸŒŠ, such as fishes, which take advantage of the eggs released into the water column as a food source๐Ÿฝ๏ธ. But ๐Ÿ’…๊ช‘๊ชฎ๊ชป๊ซ๊ซ€แฅ… ๊ช€๊ช–๊ชป๊ชŠแฅ…๊ซ€๐ŸŒ comes prepared!

With แด›สœแดแดœ๊œฑแด€ษดแด…๊œฑ to แดษชสŸสŸษชแดษด๊œฑ of eggs released during a single spawning event, this greatly increases the chances of survival and development into the next generation. This type of reproductive strategy is called โœจ๐™—๐™ง๐™ค๐™–๐™™๐™˜๐™–๐™จ๐™ฉ ๐™จ๐™ฅ๐™–๐™ฌ๐™ฃ๐™ž๐™ฃ๐™œโœจ, wherein ๐ก๐ž๐ซ๐ฆ๐š๐ฉ๐ก๐ซ๐จ๐๐ข๐ญ๐ž clams release eggs and s***m into the water column, turning the sea into one big ๐’ท๐‘œ๐“Œ๐“ ๐‘œ๐’ป ๐’ป๐‘’๐“‡๐“‰๐’พ๐“๐’พ๐“‰๐“Ž. ๐Ÿฅต

This is not ๐Ÿงžโ€โ™€๏ธAlladinโ€™s Magic Carpet but a living majestic one. This animal is the bestie of Stormy the friendly fishy๐Ÿš. But donโ€™t be fooled by its wonderful colors because you should not๐Ÿ™… touch, touch, touch, touch as they hurt so much, much, much, much๐Ÿ˜ซ.

Let me introduce you to the โœจ๐†๐ข๐š๐ง๐ญ ๐‚๐š๐ซ๐ฉ๐ž๐ญ ๐€๐ง๐ž๐ฆ๐จ๐ง๐žโœจ (๐™Ž๐™ฉ๐™ž๐™˜๐™๐™ค๐™™๐™–๐™˜๐™ฉ๐™ฎ๐™ก๐™– ๐™œ๐™ž๐™œ๐™–๐™ฃ๐™ฉ๐™š๐™–), an animal related to jellyfish and like itโ€™s โ€˜cousinsโ€™, they sting. They can cause mild discomfort as it can develop swelling and lesions after several hours from contact and can last for several days. This is due to the microscopic harpoon-like cells called nematocysts๐Ÿชธ.
