The Mines and Geosciences Bureau Region X (MGB-X), together with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Region X and the Environmental Management Bureau (EMB) Region X, actively participated in the nationwide roll-out of the DENR Express Permitting on Wheels, an initiative designed to bring government frontline services closer to stakeholders and improve access to essential regulatory assistance.

Technical personnel from MGB-X were deployed on-site at Skygarden, SM Downtown Premier, Cagayan de Oro City, on April 14–15, 2026, alongside representatives from the DENR Regional Office X, EMB Region X, and the Community Environment and Natural Resources Offices (CENROs) of Gingoog and Initao, Misamis Oriental.

Throughout the two-day Permitting on Wheels Program, MGB-X provided direct assistance and consultation services related to mining safety, permitting, and regulatory compliance. Services delivered included processing of Area Status Clearance; issuance of Delivery Receipts for Mineral Processing Permit (MPP) and Industrial Sand and Gravel Permit (ISAGP); Permit to Operate Mechanical Equipment; Certificate of Inspection for Electrical Installations; and processing of Safety Inspector’s and Safety Engineer’s Permits.

In addition to frontline services, MGB-X set up an information booth featuring displayed rock and mineral samples for clients and visitors to examine, helping raise awareness of the region’s mineral resources and their proper identification. Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) materials were also showcased and distributed to stakeholders to promote understanding of mining safety, environmental stewardship, and responsible mineral development.

This effort reinforces MGB-X’s continuing commitment to responsive public service and effective regulation of the mining sector. Delivering services on-site allowed the Bureau to address stakeholder needs more efficiently, promote compliance with established requirements, and foster stronger collaboration with industry partners and local communities.

𝐋𝐎𝐎𝐊 | 𝐌𝐆𝐁-𝐗 𝐒𝐔𝐂𝐂𝐄𝐒𝐒𝐅𝐔𝐋𝐋𝐘 𝐏𝐀𝐒𝐒𝐄𝐒 𝟐𝐍𝐃 𝐈𝐒𝐎 𝟗𝟎𝟎𝟏:𝟐𝟎𝟏𝟓 𝐒𝐔𝐑𝐕𝐄𝐈𝐋𝐋𝐀𝐍𝐂𝐄 𝐀𝐔𝐃𝐈𝐓

The Mines and Geosciences Bureau Region X (MGB-X) successfully passed its 2nd Surveillance Audit for the ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System (QMS) on April 6, 2026, held at the MGB-X Conference Room, DENR 10 Compound, Cagayan de Oro City.

The audit was conducted by external auditors Mr. Rannie and Mrs. Thesz Bernardino from National Quality Assurance Philippines, Inc. (NQA), a third-party certification body accredited under the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) Management Systems. This forms part of the regular monitoring process to ensure that the established Quality Management System remains compliant with international standards and is effectively implemented across all processes. The activity also provided an opportunity for MGB-X to demonstrate sustained adherence to quality policies, operational procedures, and continuous improvement initiatives.

The Mines and Geosciences Bureau Region X (MGB-X) paid tribute to the invaluable contributions of its women employees through a heartfelt recognition activity together with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources 10 (DENR 10), and Environmental Management Bureau X (EMB-X), during the culmination of the 2026 Women’s Month celebration.

As part of the Monday Convocation held at the DENR Covered Court in Puntod, Cagayan de Oro City, all women personnel of MGB-X were honored with pink roses, symbolizing appreciation and gratitude for their tireless dedication and commitment in keeping the MGB-X operations running efficiently.

The distribution of pink roses was led by OIC Regional Director Rodant B. Felina, who personally handed each rose to the women employees. The gesture highlighted the MGB-X’s recognition of the vital role women play in public service.

The ceremony served as a meaningful culmination of the month-long celebration, reinforcing the importance of gender equality, empowerment, and inclusivity in the workplace.

In the afternoon, a special mass was held to formally close the celebration. The gathering provided a moment of reflection and thanksgiving, invoking blessings for all employees and reaffirming the organization’s unity and shared purpose.

MGB-X employees came together to practice the “Duck, Cover, and Hold” protocol and take part in the 1st quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED), strengthening readiness in case of an earthquake. The activity served as a reminder that preparedness saves lives, reduces risks, and builds a more resilient community.

With strong participation from both women and men, MGB-X continues to uphold its commitment to workplace safety while promoting a culture of disaster preparedness across the region.
