CTCAO Brings Higalaay Festival 2026 to the Airwaves
The City Tourism and Cultural Affairs Office (CTCAO) continues to build excitement for Higalaay Festival 2026 through a series of radio guestings on PIA Region X’s Lambo Dyes and 92.7 Heart FM Cagayan de Oro.

Representing the City Government are Acting City Tourism Officer Mark Kenneth Jalapadan, together with Romeo James Halley Paculba and Christer Kim Enobio of the Marketing, Promotions, and Events Division, as they share the festival’s highlights, tourism initiatives, and the exciting lineup of activities awaiting both locals and visitors.

Through these media engagements, the CTCAO strengthens public awareness and invites everyone to experience the vibrant celebration of culture, heritage, tourism, and friendship that defines Higalaay Festival 2026.

The City Tourism and Cultural Affairs Office successfully conducted the first day of the Local Tourism Development Plan (LTDP) Workshop in partnership with the Department of Tourism Region 10 at Chali Beach Resort.

The workshop gathered members of the Tourism Planning Committee, composed of representatives from various national government agencies, tourism affiliate organizations, local government offices, academic institutions, and other key tourism stakeholders. The activity aims to strengthen collaboration and formulate a comprehensive and sustainable Local Tourism Development Plan that will guide the city's tourism initiatives and promote inclusive growth.

Through this collaborative effort, participants engaged in discussions, planning sessions, and strategic activities that will help shape the future of the local tourism industry while preserving the city's cultural heritage and enhancing visitor experiences.

In a collaborative effort, Acting Provincial Tourism Officer Cinderella Faye Obeñita led a working session with the Cagayan de Oro City Tourism and Cultural Affairs Office, headed by Acting City Tourism Officer Mark Kenneth Jalapadan. As Higalaay Festival 2026 draws near, preparations continue for one of its major sports tourism highlights—the Higalaay Swimming Competition, which gathers swimmers from across the Philippines at Kagay-an Resort.

To ensure the event’s successful staging, a coordination meeting initiated by Kagay-an Resort under the City Economic Enterprises and Business Development Administration (CEEBDA), led by Atty. Marianne G. Ragas, brings together key officials and representatives from the City Engineering Office, led by Engr. Joel V. Momongan; the City Tourism and Cultural Affairs Office, led by Acting City Tourism Officer Mark Kenneth R. Jalapadan; CEEBDA Engineering and Maintenance Head Engr. Salic S. Darimbang; and Acting Kagay-an Resort Manager Shari Angelee D. Jayson to discuss venue readiness and operational preparations. The meeting is followed by a site inspection at Kagay-an Resort to assess the facilities and identify necessary improvements ahead of the competition.

Through these collaborative efforts, Cagayan de Oro continues to strengthen its position as a growing destination for sports tourism, with Higalaay Festival 2026 showcasing the city’s commitment to hosting quality sporting events.
