𝗘𝗖𝗖 𝗡𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗵𝗠𝗶𝗻 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝘀 𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗺𝗼𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻 𝗠𝗮𝗺𝗯𝗮𝗷𝗮𝗼, 𝗖𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗴𝘂𝗶𝗻

ECC Northern Mindanao conducted a livelihood monitoring visit for persons with work-related disability (PWRD) Mr. Hongayo in Mambajao, Camiguin Province, to assess his readiness for his hog-raising livelihood project.

The monitoring is an important step under the ECC KaGabay Program to ensure that beneficiaries are prepared to manage their chosen livelihood before the release of their starter kit. Once confirmed ready, Mr. Hongayo will receive his hog-raising starter kit to help him rebuild his livelihood and achieve a sustainable source of income.

Through the KaGabay Program, ECC is committed to helping PWRDs recover economically, gain independence, and improve their quality of life.

𝗘𝗖𝗖 𝗡𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗵𝗠𝗶𝗻 𝗷𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘀 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝟭𝟬 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗶𝗻 𝗖𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗴𝘂𝗶𝗻

After eight years, ECC Northern Mindanao returned to the Province of Camiguin to conduct an advocacy activity alongside the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB-X), the Regional Conciliation and Mediation Board (RCMB-X), and DOLE Camiguin Provincial Field Office on July 23, 2026, at Villa Paraiso, Mambajao, Camiguin Province.

As part of the Region 10 Convergence Team, ECC raised awareness of the EC Program benefits and services available to workers who suffer work-related sickness, injury, disability, or death. Participants also learned about medical and rehabilitation services, income benefits, and other forms of assistance available under the program.

The activity also provided an opportunity for workers, employers, and stakeholders to seek consultations and technical assistance from the participating agencies, bringing essential government services closer to the people of Camiguin.

𝗘𝗖𝗖 𝗡𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗵𝗠𝗶𝗻 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗱𝗲𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗽𝗵𝘆𝘀𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗽𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝗶𝗻𝗷𝘂𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗲𝗿𝘀

ECC Northern Mindanao referred two persons with work-related disabilities to the Northern Mindanao Medical Center (NMMC) for consultation with a rehabilitation medicine specialist under the ECC Katulong at Gabay sa Manggagawang may Kapansanan (KaGabay) Program.

Maria Cordero and Sheryl Delante both sustained injuries from separate work-related vehicular accidents in December 2025. Cordero suffered multiple fractures, while Delante sustained a fractured left shinbone. Both were recommended to undergo six (6) free physical therapy sessions.

Recovery takes time, and no worker should have to go through it alone. Through the ECC KaGabay Program, beneficiaries are provided with free physical therapy and rehabilitation services to help them regain strength, restore mobility, and confidently move forward on their journey to recovery.

𝗜𝗻𝗷𝘂𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗴𝘂𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗲𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗘𝗖𝗖

ECC Northern Mindanao recently awarded a ₱30,000 livelihood starter kit to Jovelyn Tapdasan to help her start a hog-raising business.

Tapdasan, a security guard, was involved in a work-related vehicular accident in June 2024 that left her with a broken arm. During her recovery, she received EC Sickness Benefits for the 120 days she was unable to work and underwent free Occupational Therapy at Northern Mindanao Medical Center (NMMC).

Through ECC's Katulong at Gabay sa Manggagawang may Kapansanan (KaGabay) Program, she also joined the Entrepreneurial Training conducted by ECC NorthMin and RTWPB-X in November 2025 before receiving her livelihood package consisting of piglets and assorted feeds.

Her story reminds us that there is hope after a work-related disability. Accidents may change the course of a person's life, but they do not have to end their journey. Through the Katulong at Gabay sa Manggagawang may Kapansanan (KaGabay) Program, ECC continues to help persons with work-related disabilities rebuild their lives, restore their dignity, and move forward with hope.

Joan Sabayan, a former cruise ship worker, suffered a fractured toe due to an onboard accident, leaving her unable to walk and eventually losing her job.

Through the Employees' Compensation Program, she received EC Sickness Benefits from SSS, which were processed by her former employer. Upon coordinating with ECC Northern Mindanao, she was referred to Mercy Community Hospital in Iligan City for free physical therapy sessions. During her recovery, ECC Northern Mindanao also provided her with a wheelchair to help with her mobility while undergoing therapy.

To help her regain her independence, she completed livelihood training through ECC and received a ₱20,000 starter kit to start her food business. Today, Ma'am Joan can already walk on her own. After successfully sustaining her business for a year, she has also received a ₱10,000 Complementary Kit from ECC to help it grow even further.

𝗘𝗖𝗖 𝗡𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗵𝗠𝗶𝗻 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗱𝗲𝘀 𝗿𝗲𝗵𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗣𝗪𝗥𝗗𝘀

Under the ECC's Katulong at Gabay sa Manggagawang may Kapansanan (KaGaBay) Program, ECC Northern Mindanao assisted three persons with work-related disabilities from Cagayan de Oro City and Misamis Oriental during their rehabilitation consultation at Northern Mindanao Medical Center (NMMC).

The beneficiaries are Jonas Guiemzon, a Fuel Feeder Operator from Cagayan de Oro City who sustained a severe right ankle injury in January 2026; Jellyn Maamo, a TUPAD Coordinator of DOLE Cagayan de Oro who suffered a muscle and ligament injury after accidentally losing her balance while getting off a motorcycle in May 2026; and Ardel Molino, an Able Seaman from Misamis Oriental who sustained a torn ligament and damaged cartilage in his right knee in August 2025.

The consultation aims to determine the appropriate physical therapy treatment and the recommended number of rehabilitation sessions to support their recovery and eventual return to work.

Through the KaGaBay Program, ECC continues to provide rehabilitation assistance to occupationally injured and sick workers, helping them regain mobility and return to productive lives.

𝗘𝗖𝗖 𝗡𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗻 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗼 𝗴𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝘂𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗯𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗿𝘆

ECC Northern Mindanao awarded a free store signage to Mr. Ybañez for his sari-sari store business in recognition of his determination and hard work.

Mr. Ybañez, a former third engineer in a maritime company, suffered a mild stroke in 2020 that affected the left side of his body. Because of his condition, he was no longer able to return to work.

Through the Employees' Compensation Program, Mr. Ybañez received the support he needed to recover and rebuild his life. He was provided with EC sickness and permanent partial disability benefits, free physical therapy sessions with transportation and meal allowance, assistive devices (Bobath sling and quad cane), livelihood training, a ₱20,000 livelihood starter kit, and a ₱10,000 livelihood complementary kit after successfully sustaining his business for one year.

Today, his store signage stands as more than just a business marker. It is a symbol of his resilience and a reminder that with the right support, workers with work-related disabilities can rebuild their lives and create new opportunities for themselves and their families.
