Pursuant to the General Provisions of the Market Rules and Regulations under Ordinance No. 8330-2002, particularly the provision that prohibits the extension or expansion of stalls, displays, merchandise, and business operations beyond the assigned stall space, the Farmers Market and Transportation Terminal (FMTT) conducted a clearing operation on June 5, 2026, as part of its continuing efforts to maintain order, cleanliness, accessibility, and public safety within the market premises.
Prior to the conduct of the operation, the management issued notices to concerned stakeholders and conducted an Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) campaign to ensure that stallholders, vendors, and market users were properly informed of the existing policies and regulations. The activity also served as a reminder on the importance of complying with market rules, particularly in keeping roads, walkways, and common areas free from obstructions to promote the smooth flow of traffic and pedestrian movement.
The clearing operation was carried out through the collective efforts of a composite team composed of FMTT personnel from the Security, Sanitation, Engineering, and Administrative Sections; Police Station 7 led by Station Commander PMAJ. Rutherford Ondin; the Clearing Team headed by Team Leader Michael Tan under the supervision of Engr. Nonito Oclarit; officers of CDOVASHA led by President Williedito Mopon and Vice President Jezelle Tapia; and representatives from the Muslim Association headed by President Jala Ali, who assisted in informing and coordinating with affected stallholders.
This activity marks the beginning of a series of clearing operations that will be regularly implemented to ensure a clean, orderly, and well-managed market environment. It reflects the commitment of the management and stakeholders to uphold discipline, improve accessibility, and provide a safer and more convenient public market for all.
The initiative was undertaken under the guidance and full support of City Economic Enterprise Committee Chairman, Kag. Edgar S. Cabanlas; Traffic and Sanitation Committee chairmans, Kag. Eric Salcedo; Acting General Manager of CEEBDA, Atty. Marianne G. Ragas, REA, LPT; Branch Manager-Designate, Mr. Mark Bryan C. Olarte; and Assistant Branch Manager-Designate, Ms. Jocelyn Q.
