🎖️𝗜𝗧𝗪𝗘 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 | 𝗦𝗘𝗖𝗥𝗘𝗧𝗔𝗥𝗬’𝗦 𝗠𝗘𝗦𝗦𝗔𝗚𝗘

DOST Secretary Dr. Renato U. Solidum, Jr. congratulated the 2026 In Touch with Excellence scholar-awardees, reminding them that excellence is defined not by recognition alone but by the impact of their work and the communities it reaches.

He reflected on the DOST scholarship as an answered prayer for many scholars and as the beginning of a greater responsibility: to mobilize science, spur change, and turn knowledge into solutions that respond to real-world needs.

Dr. Solidum challenged them to put their knowledge to work in ways that contribute, serve, and reach beyond themselves.

DOST-SEI Director Dr. Jayeel S. Cornelio addressed the awardees of the 2026 In Touch with Excellence with a thought-provoking message.

In his message, he emphasized that excellence carries various meanings, but beyond academic achievement, moral excellence is what matters most. He challenged the scholar-awardees: to remain committed to justice and the good, and to challenge the wrongs that persist in society today.

🎖𝗜𝗧𝗪𝗘 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 | 𝗞𝗘𝗬𝗡𝗢𝗧𝗘 𝗠𝗘𝗦𝗦𝗔𝗚𝗘

Department of Energy Undersecretary Dr. Rowena Cristina L. Guevara graced the graduate scholar-awardees with an inspiring message at the 2026 In Touch with Excellence, sharing how she has sustained 41 years of public service by doing something meaningful for the greater good and finding something that brings pure joy.

In her keynote address, she reminded the scholars that the country needs them. Although where they will end up after graduation remains uncertain, she encouraged them to lead with grit and humility, explore the possibilities in science and technology, pursue work that is meaningful and worthwhile, communicate science and technology in ways even young people can understand, and use their scientific knowledge to create solutions that matter.

DOST-SEI Director III Engr. Albert G. Mariño concludes the 2026 In Touch with Excellence with his closing remarks, sending off the scholar-graduates in celebration and with a charge.

In his message, he emphasized that the country needs capable professionals who can apply their knowledge, solve problems, and contribute to the nation's advancement. He expressed his hope that the excellence the scholars demonstrated in their studies will carry into the work they undertake and the institutions and communities that depend on it, guided by a continued commitment to lifelong learning.

This scholarship provides financial assistance to deserving students who aspire to pursue higher education while contributing to nation-building.

Applicants must:

✔️ Be a bona fide first-year USTP-CDO student and a resident of Misamis Oriental
✔️ Be a child or grandchild of an Agrarian Reform Beneficiary (ARB) or a Small Farmer/Fisher registered in the Registry System for Basic Sectors in Agriculture (RSBSA)
✔️ Have a minimum Senior High School average grade of 90% or belong to the Top 10% of the graduating class
✔️ Not be enjoying any other scholarship, grant, or financial assistance
✔️ Have a total annual family income not exceeding ₱300,000.00

5. Endorsement letter from LANDBANK agriculture-related client cooperative, organization or partner SUCs, or other government agencies.

11. 𝐕𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐝 𝐌𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐞 (may be issued by the clinic of the SUC or outside gov't or private clinics/hospitals)
