: Dr. José Rizal’s Life in Exile

Did you know that when the Spanish colonial government exiled Dr. José Rizal to Dapitan, Zamboanga del Norte, in 1892, he didn't let isolation stop him from making a difference? 📜✨

Instead of giving up, Rizal used his 4 years in Dapitan to serve the community:
🌾 Transformed Land: Bought a plot in Brgy. Talisay using his lottery winnings to farm and build a home.
👨‍⚕️ Served the People: Treated patients as an ophthalmologist and taught local children.
🏼 Found Love: Met Josephine Bracken, who traveled to Dapitan seeking medical treatment for her stepfather.

Despite his sudden arrest in 1896 while en route to serve as a volunteer doctor in Cuba, Rizal’s legacy of service and dedication in Mindanao lives on! 🇵🇭
