The Cagayan de Oro City Water District would like to inform the public of an upcoming PUBLIC HEARING on the proposed ADJUSTMENT OF WATER RATES. This is an important opportunity for us to explain the reasons behind the proposal and to hear your thoughts and concerns.
We humbly ask for your understanding on two important realities:
First, COWD’s WATER RATES HAVE REMAINED UNCHANGED SINCE 2014. In the past 12 years, the costs of electricity, fuel, treatment chemicals, pipes, equipment, construction materials, and other operational necessities have significantly increased. Like many other essential services, the district also needs to adjust in order to continue providing reliable and sustainable water service to our growing communities.
Second, COWD is a Government-Owned and Controlled Corporation (GOCC), unlike other government agencies, WE DO NOT RECEIVE SUBSIDY FUNDING FROM THE NATIONAL OR LOCAL GOVERNMENT for our daily operations and projects. This means that the improvement, maintenance, and expansion of our water systems are funded mainly through the payments we collect from our customers.
Your continued support helps us improve our services, respond to growing demand, and invest in better water infrastructure for the future of our city.
We invite you to witness this event on the following schedule:
-Barangay Balulang Covered Court at 9:00 a.m. on June 24, 2026
-Carmen Barangay Hall Covered Court at 2:00 p.m. on June 25, 2026
-Barangay 24 Covered Court at 9:00 a.m. on June 25, 2026
-Barangay Tablon Mini Gym at 2:00 p.m. on June 25, 2026
We understand that not everyone may be able to attend personally, so the public hearing will also be streamed LIVE on our official page.
