CAMP ALAGAR, Cagayan de Oro City- A total of P1.4 million worth of illegal drugs was seized by Police Station 9, COCPO and CDEU in a different police operation in Cagayan de Oro City.

On February 20, 2024, at 7:31 PM, personnel of PS9, COCPO successfully implemented Search Warrant against a Top 3 PNP-PDEA watch list individual at Upper St. Ignatius, Brgy. Macasandig, Cagayan de Oro City, resulting in the arrest of the suspect and confiscation of approximately 100 grams of shabu with an estimated Standard Drug Price of PhP680,000.00. Information disclosed that the suspect was previously arrested for frustrated murder in year 2013.

Subsequently, on February 21, 2024, at 12:05 AM, operatives of the City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) also arrested a 32-year-old male high-value individual during the ex*****on of a buy-bust operation at Zone 9, Brgy. Canitoan, Cagayan de Oro City. Confiscated pieces of evidence during the operation include 10 heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing a white crystalline substance believed to be shabu weighing more or less 110 grams with an estimated Standard Drug Price of PhP748,000.00.

Accordingly, the suspect had a history of multiple drug-related arrests (3 times for violating R.A. No. 9165) and was just recently released in January 2024.

All arrested individuals are now under the custodial facilities for proper disposition.

“I want to reiterate that PRO10 will continue to relentlessly pursue those who threated the peace and security of our region. We have been constantly demonstrating professionalism in our job and commitment to ending the proliferation of illegal drugs in our community. Let us help one another in making our community a safer place to live, work, and do business,” he said.

Further, PBGEN LAYUG JR issued a stern warning to the public, especially to those habitual offenders, to refrain from engaging in illegal activities. # # #

SENATE PRESIDENT ZUBIRI BACKS PNP MODERNIZATION, HONORS OUTSTANDING OFFICERS AT 122ND POLICE SERVICE ANNIVERSARY

Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri has expressed support to the proposed PNP Modernization Bill that seeks to upgrade the operational capabilities of the Philippine National Police.

Zubiri's firm endorsement underscores the Senate's commitment to advance pending PNP Modernization measures within the 19th Congress. Among these pivotal bills are the Restructuring of the Philippine National Police, the creation of a National Police Clearance System, and the comprehensive Revitalization and Capability Enhancement of the PNP. Additionally, the legislative agenda encompasses the establishment of a Forensic DNA Database in the Philippines, the bestowal of Subpoena Power to the Director of the Anti-Cybercrime Group, as well as the provision for Free Legal Assistance to Military and Uniformed Personnel, alongside a suite of seven other vital bills.

The Senate President gave this assurance as he spoke before PNP officials led by Police General Benjamin Acorda Jr, as guest of honor and speaker during the 122nd Police Service Anniversary rites in Camp Crame.

In response, PNP Chief, Police General Benjamin Acorda Jr. said these legislative measures will help our police force to uphold the rule of law, ensuring efficiency transparency and accountability.
"Our aim is to enhance public trust, improve community relations, and create a safer and prosperous environment for all Filipinos”, PGen Acorda said.

As the ceremony's focal point, Zubiri led a distinguished assembly of national figures in presenting accolades and commendations to exemplary PNP Units and individuals who have demonstrated exceptional dedication and service.

The roll call of Police Service Anniversary individual PNP awardees reads as a tribute to excellence: from Police Colonel Julius C Suriben of PRO1, lauded as the Best Senior Police Commissioned Officer for Administration; to Police Staff Sargeant llena Sol-Josefa M Jovita of PRO10, as the Best Junior Police Non-Commissioned Officer for Administration. These standout officers, along with their peers, are exemplars of the PNP's dedication to excellence.

Meanwhile the unit awardees were presented to Police Regional Office 11, Best Police Regional Office, Negros Occidental PPO, PRO6, Best Police Provincial Office, Bacolod City Police Office, PRO6, Best City Police Office, Sorsogon CPS, PRO5, Best Component City Police Station, Isulan MPS, PRO12, Best Municipal Police Station, Regional Mobile Force Battalion 4A, Best Regional Mobile Force Battalion, Camarines Sur 1st PMFC, PRO5, Best Provincial Mobile Force Company, General Santos City CMFC, PRO12, Best City Mobile Force Company, Intelligence Group, Best National Operational Support Unit, and Finance Service, Best National Administrative Support Unit.

The ceremony also spotlighted Special Awardees, including the honorable Police Lieutenant B Juhan of PRO9, who received a Special Individual Award, and the 605th Maneuver Company of RMFB6, recognized with a Special Unit Award. The accolades extended to various sectors, with LGU Davao City receiving a Special LGU Award, and Aklan BAGHAY Inc of Aklan PPO earning a Special NGO Award. Police Brigadier General Nicolas D Torre III, District Director of QCP, was granted a Special Recognition Award for his commendable contributions.

Police Service Anniversary is celebrated to commemorate the founding anniversary of the Philippine Constabulary founded at the turn of the century on August 8, 1901 as the country’s insular police force.
