NEMRC collapses after all remaining NPA in CARAGA surrender
CAMP EVANGELISTA, Cagayan de Oro City – The relentless and sustained operations of the 4th Infantry (Diamond) Division, in coordination with its partner units and stakeholders, have resulted in the total collapse of the communist terrorist group's Northeastern Mindanao Regional Committee (NEMRC) following the surrender of all its remaining members.
On May 27, 2026, three (3) members of the RSDG, NEMRC yielded to the 401st Brigade bringing one (1) carbine rifle, three (3) carbine rifle magazines and 28 carbine ammunitions.
Their surrender was attributed to the increasing demoralization within the group following the death of their leader, Edilberto Daval alias Bong/Waco/Bill in an encounter on May 11.
Colonel Glenn Joy U. Aynera, the Acting Commander of the 401st Brigade said these CTG members voluntarily yielded to government forces and pledged their support to the government’s peace and development initiatives.
"This significant development marks another major milestone in our intensified campaign to end insurgency in Caraga Region. The surrender of the remaining NEMRC members signifies the complete dismantling of one of the CTG’s major regional formations operating in Northeastern Mindanao," he added.
Major General Angcao lauded the troops and stakeholders whose collaborative efforts contributed to the successful neutralization and eventual collapse of the NEMRC.
“The total collapse of the NEMRC is a testament to the effectiveness of our focused military operations, strengthened collaboration with local government units, and the unwavering support of the communities. This achievement brings us closer to attaining lasting peace and sustainable development in the region,” he said.
He further emphasized that the government remains committed to helping former rebels reintegrate into society through various assistance programs under the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP) and other peace-building initiatives.
