In celebration of the 2026 Labor Day for the Informal Sectors, the Department of Labor and Employment โ X Cagayan de Oro Field Office (DOLE-X CDOFO) continued to strengthen its support for workers in the informal sector and local communities through a 2 weeks series of activities in May 2026, highlighted by the release of TUPAD payouts, turnover of livelihood assistance, and conduct of livelihood training programs aimed at helping individuals build more stable and sustainable sources of income under the DOLE Integrated Livelihood and Emergency Employment Program (DILEEP).
Through its Labor Day for the Informal Sector activities, DOLE - X CDOFO granted livelihood assistance to 300 beneficiaries with a total project cost of โฑ4,760,479.14, supporting income opportunities and strengthening the capacity of individuals and organizations to start or expand their small businesses that generate sustainable and long-term income.
In addition, a total of 795 workers benefited from the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged Workers (TUPAD) program, which provided โฑ9,169,280.00 in funding for short-term employment to disadvadvantage and marginalized workers, aimed at delivering urgent income assistance and promoting dignity through work. This program also supported the implementation of Brigada Skwela in preparation for the new school year.
Moreover, livelihood training sessions were also conducted covering key topics such as DILP Orientation, Financial Literacy, Entrepreneurial Mindsetting, Business Registration, Simplified Bookkeeping, and social coverage such as SSS AlkanSSSya and Philhealthโs Yaman Ng Kalusugan Program (YAKAP). These modules are designed to strengthen the beneficiariesโ practical knowledge and skills, enabling them to better manage their resources, sustain their livelihood undertakings, and build more resilient and compliant micro-enterprises.
These initiatives affirm DOLE-X CDOFOโs strong commitment to providing meaningful assistance to workers in the Informal Sector through programs that directly respond to their needs. Through Livelihood Assistance, TUPAD emergency employment, and entrepreneurial development training, the Field Office extends essential support that helps generate income opportunities, build practical skills, and strengthen livelihood security.
