๐—š๐—ข๐—ข๐—— ๐—ก๐—˜๐—ช๐—ฆ | DOLE-X CDOFO Provides โ‚ฑ10.2-Million Livelihood Assistance, Opens New Opportunities for 253 Beneficiaries

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY โ€” A livelihood opportunity can mark the beginning of a new journey for individuals and communities working toward a more stable future.

For Marlyn G. Arabis, President of the Balubal Sericulture Farmers Association, leading the cityโ€™s first sericulture, the assistance they received from the Department of Labor and Employment Regional Office X (DOLE-X) brings renewed hope for their associationโ€™s continued growth.

Nag pasalamat ko sa DOLE and DOLE Secretary Francis N. โ€œTOLโ€ Tolentino sa ilang walang puas nga suporta ug sa paghatag kanamo og higayon nga mapadayon ug mapalambo ang among panginabuhian."

The support will help the group strengthen their sericulture livelihood, improve their production, and create better opportunities for their members who continue to rely on the industry as a source of income.

The association was among the 253 beneficiaries who will receive a total of โ‚ฑ10,229,995.00 in livelihood assistance during the ceremonial turnover conducted by Department of Labor and Employment X through its Cagayan de Oro Field Office (DOLE-X CDOFO) on July 27 at the 5th Floor Activity Area Trinidad Bldg. in Cagayan de Oro City.

Leading the activity were DOLE-X Regional Director Atty. Joffrey M. Suyao and Assistant Regional Director and Officer-in-Charge of the Cagayan de Oro Field Office Norman L. Uyvico, together with the DOLE-X Provincial and Field Office Heads, turned over the subsidy to Maven Center for Learning and Entrepreneurship Inc. as project Co-Partner.

The assistance covers 241 individual livelihood projects and 12 group enterprises engaged in agriculture, retail, manufacturing, and service-related activities. A total of โ‚ฑ7,020,000.00 is allocated for individual beneficiaries, while โ‚ฑ3,209,995.00 is for the organized groups.

Beyond financial support, the department will continue to assist beneficiaries through capacity-building initiatives designed to enhance their entrepreneurial skills and help ensure the sustainability of their livelihood ventures.

The program also reflects the importance of convergence among government agencies and partner institutions, including the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWD), City Housing and Urban Development Department (CHUD), Department of Science and Technology (DOST), Department of Justiceโ€“Parole and Probation Administration (DOJ-PPA), Presidential Commission for the Urban Poor (PCUP), National Housing Authority (NHA), Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), and the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines (USTP).

Through these partnerships, beneficiaries will gain access to additional support such as skills training, mentoring, and enterprise development assistance to help them manage and sustain their livelihood projects.

The beneficiaries represent various sectors, including displaced workers, Indigenous Peoples, persons with disabilities, exited Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) beneficiaries, probationers and parolees, TUPAD workers, and other vulnerable groups seeking opportunities for economic recovery and self-reliance.

For DOLE Secretary Francis N. โ€œTOLโ€ Tolentino, through the DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program, serves as a pathway to empower workers and community beneficiaries by providing opportunities that allow them to establish, improve, and sustain their livelihood ventures.

As the beneficiaries begin the next chapter of their livelihood journey, the assistance they received represents more than a grant. It reflects the governmentโ€™s continuing commitment to create opportunities where individuals and communities can turn their skills, determination, and hard work into sustainable livelihoods.

Through its livelihood programs, DOLE-X CDOFO continues to strengthen communities by bringing opportunities closer to those who need them most.
