Carmen, Cdeo — The Agricultural Productivity Operations Office (APOO) conducted an orientation on the Registry System for Basic Sectors in Agriculture (RSBSA) Registration for farmers and agricultural stakeholders of Barangay Carmen on June 1, 2026.

The activity aimed to strengthen awareness on the importance of RSBSA enrollment as a gateway for farmers to access various government programs, interventions, agricultural assistance, and support services from the Department of Agriculture and the City Government of Cagayan de Oro.

Through the orientation, participants were guided on the registration process, documentary requirements, and the benefits of being officially registered in the national database for farmers, fisherfolk, and other members of the agriculture sector.

The initiative was facilitated by the APOO Agronomy Division and Field Operations Division (FOD), emphasizing the office’s commitment to updating and expanding the city’s farmer database to ensure that agricultural programs reach qualified beneficiaries.

APOO continues to encourage all eligible farmers and agriculture stakeholders to coordinate with their respective Barangay Agricultural Extension Workers (BAEWs) for assistance in RSBSA registration and updating.

Tignapoloan, CdeO - The Agricultural Productivity Operations Office (APOO) continues to strengthen the local abaca industry as it participated in the site validation and Business Model Presentation for the proposed Abaca Processing, Consolidation Center, and Marketing Enterprise under the Department of Agriculture – Philippine Rural Development Project (DA-PRDP) I-REAP Program.

The activity, conducted together with the DA-PRDP Validation Team, Makabangko Abaca Farmers Agriculture Cooperative (MAFACO), and the City Project Management and Implementing Unit (CPMIU), aimed to assess the project’s readiness, validate its proposed site, and review technical and documentary requirements needed for its implementation.

The consultation also served as an avenue for partner agencies and stakeholders to provide recommendations to further strengthen the project proposal, enhance enterprise sustainability, and ensure alignment with PRDP standards.

Representatives from APOO, City Engineer’s Office (CEO), City Local Environment and Natural Resources Office (CLENRO), City Assessor’s Department (CAD), and City Planning and Development Office (CPDO) joined the validation activity, reflecting the City Government’s whole-of-government approach in supporting agricultural enterprises and improving livelihood opportunities for local farmers.

Once realized, the proposed facility is expected to boost abaca value-adding initiatives, improve market access, and provide greater income opportunities for abaca-producing communities in Cagayan de Oro.

Through continued collaboration among the City Government of Cagayan de Oro, DA-PRDP, and MAFACO, the city takes another step forward in building a more competitive, sustainable, and farmer-centered abaca industry.
