THE FURIOUS REVIEW
The Furious delivers brutal, fast-paced martial arts action with excellent fight choreography.
Xie Miao plays Wang Wei, a mute father searching for the traffickers who kidnapped his daughter. He later teams up with Navin, played by Joe Taslim, whose wife is also being held by the same criminal network.
The story is simple, but it gives the characters enough emotional purpose to support the action.
The film’s biggest strength is its fight scenes. The camera clearly shows the performers’ movements. The choreography uses long takes, practical stunts, different fighting styles, and ordinary objects as weapons. Joe Taslim, Xie Miao, Yayan Ruhian, Jija Yanin, and Brian Le bring real martial arts credibility.
However, the fights became tiring after a while. The nonstop action eventually felt repetitive and exhausting. The film needed more quiet moments, stronger character development, and better pacing to make each fight feel more important.
The screenplay is also weak. The villains are basic, and the trafficking plot mainly serves as a reason to connect one fight scene to another.
Verdict: The Furious is worth watching for its choreography, stunt work, and physical performances. Just do not expect a deep story or balanced pacing.
