4 NorMin farmer coop conferred DA-10's CSO accreditation

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – The Department of Agriculture – Regional Field Office 10 (DA-10) issued certificate of accreditation to four farmer cooperatives in Northern Mindanao, recognizing them as Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) earlier today, October 24, at the agency compound, this city.

The newly accredited farmer-groups include the Lambo Bayanihan Consumers Cooperative (LBCC) based in Barangay Kulasihan, Kolambugan, Lanao del Norte; the Pantaon Bangsamoro Farmers Agriculture Cooperative in Barangay Pantaon, Poona Piagapo, Lanao del Norte; the Mabunga, Imbatug, Salimbalan District (MISAD) Multi-purpose Cooperative of Barangay Salimbalan, Baungon, Bukidnon; and the Kauyagan Savers Multi-purpose Cooperative (KSMPC) from Barangay Poblacion, Impasugong, Bukidnon.

The accreditation affirms their compliance with the requirements set under DA Administrative Circular No. 3, Series of 2022, which governs the participation of CSOs as implementing partners in the DA’s programs and projects.

Macaopao FA seen to improve farm productivity, logistics with DA-10’s mechanization aid

KALILANGAN, BUKIDNON — The Macaopao Grain Farmers’ Association (MGFA) is poised to improve the mechanization of their 270 hectares aggregate corn, cassava, and sugarcane production areas with the newly turned over 90-horsepower farm tractor unit from the Department of Agriculture - Northern Mindanao (DA-10).

The agency formally conferred the PhP2.9-million machinery on October 21, in Sitio Agaton, Brgy. Macaopao, this town.

Equipped with complete implements - disc plow and harrow, and a built-in trailer with a 5-ton transport capacity, the unit is expected to alleviate manual labor, ease land preparation, and improve farm logistics of the 159 members of the association.

Balingasag rice farmers receive PhP7k assistance as DA-10 continues RFFA payout

BALINGASAG, MISAMIS ORIENTAL — Following its recent payouts in Gingoog City and Medina town, this province, the Department of Agriculture – Regional Field Office 10 (DA-10) continues its ongoing regionwide rollout of the Rice Farmers Financial Assistance (RFFA).

On October 23, a total of 92 RSBSA-registered rice farmers, cultivating a maximum of two hectares rice area in this town, received Php7k cash assistance from DA-10’s Rice Program.

The payout aims to provide direct cash aid to offset financial losses of smallholder rice farmers due to fluctuating palay buying prices and high farming inputs costs.

Aggie-NorMin distributes Php3.92-M RFFA to subsidize local rice production

Gingoog City, Misamis Oriental – To augment rice farmers financial resources amid fluctuating palay buying prices and high costs of farm inputs, the Department of Agriculture - Northern Mindanao Regional Field Office (Aggie-NorMin) rolled out another PhP3.92-million (M) Rice Farmers Financial Assistance (RFFA) to qualified rice farmers in the region.

On October 21, a total of 212 smallholding rice farmers in Gingoog City and Magsaysay town, Misamis Oriental, received P7k in cash aid each from the DA-NorMin.

Not less than 561 rice farmers across Bukidnon, Lanao del Norte, and Misamis Oriental are set to receive the said assistance in time with the second rollout of the RFFA from October 21 to 29.

DA-10 hosts nationwide crop diversification, permaculture training for IPs

VALENCIA CITY, BUKIDNON — The Department of Agriculture – Regional Field Office X (DA-10) hosted the Kabuhayan at Kaunlaran ng Kababayang Katutubo (4K) program’s training on crop selection, diversification, agroforestry, and permaculture for Indigenous Peoples (IPs) on October 20 to 24, here.

Participated by IP representatives from 13 regions across the country, the training aims to establish sustainable and resilient agricultural systems while integrating and preserving indigenous knowledge in modern farming practices.

Agri-10 primes returning OFWs on agribiz opportunities in NorMin

OPOL, MISAMIS ORIENTAL — Aiming to help returning Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) reintegrate into the local economy through sustainable livelihood, the Department of Agriculture – Regional Field Office 10 (DA-10), in partnership with the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), conducted an orientation on agribusiness opportunities in Northern Mindanao on October 21–22, this town.

Spearheaded by the DA-10 Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance Division (AMAD), the two-day activity apprised Balikbayans from various provinces in the region on viable agribusiness ventures and enterprise development in the agriculture sector.

DA-10 distributes vegetable seeds to boost urban agriculture in NorMin

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – The Department of Agriculture – Regional Field Office 10 (DA-10), through its National Urban and Peri-Urban Agriculture Program (NUPAP), distributed an assortment of vegetable seeds to the City Local Government Units (CLGUs) of Cagayan de Oro and Iligan, as part of its continuing efforts to strengthen urban farming and food security initiatives in Northern Mindanao on October 22, here.

Valued at PhP118,778, the vegetable seeds were turned over by DA-10 OIC- Regional Technical Director for Research and Regulations, Lana May S. Racines, and Ronald Allan P. Camaddo, NUPAP Focal Person.

DA-10 debuts Mobile Soil Lab deployment in Bukidnon

MARAMAG, BUKIDNON- To provide Accessible, Available, and Accurate (3As) solutions for soil health management and crop productivity improvement in Northern Mindanao, the Department of Agriculture Regional Field Office 10 (DA-10) through the Bureau of Soils and Water Management's National Soil Health Program in partnership with the Regional Soils Laboratory (RSL) debuted its Mobile Soil Laboratory (MSL) deployment on October 17, here.

This initiative seeks to bring soil analysis closer to the field, addressing the specific soil needs and conditions to guide farmers in applying the right kind and amount of fertilizer at the most optimal time.
