Cagayan de Oro City Jail โ Female Dormitory headed by ๐๐ฆ๐๐ก๐ฆ๐ฃ ๐ ๐๐ฅ๐ฌ ๐ฅ๐ข๐ฆ๐ ๐ฆ ๐ฃ๐๐๐๐ก๐ proudly welcomed the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines (USTP) โ Cagayan de Oro Library Team, headed by Library Director ๐๐ถ๐ฟ. ๐ฅ๐ฒ๐บ๐ฒ๐ฑ๐ถ๐ผ๐ ๐๐ฎ๐ป๐ถ๐ฒ๐ฟ for a technical assistance and monitoring visit to our Jail Library.
The visit marks another milestone in the implementation of the Memorandum of Cooperation (MOC) between CDOCJ-FD and the USTP-CDO Library, a partnership anchored on a shared commitment to promote education, lifelong learning, and meaningful rehabilitation for our Persons Deprived of Liberty.
A major highlight of this collaboration is the development of the BJMP Library Management System (LMS)โan innovative digital platform conceptualized, designed, and developed by the USTP-CDO Library Team under the leadership of Dr. Remedios Jenier. This customized system is a testament to USTPโs technical expertise and unwavering support for correctional education.
Beyond the development of the system, the USTP Library Team also provided comprehensive technical assistance in the cataloging, classification, and organization of the entire CDOCJ-FD library collection, ensuring that our library complies with professional library standards and best practices.
During the presentation and demonstration of the Library Management System, it became evident that the platform is more than a digital catalog. It is an innovative management tool that effectively responds to the operational and rehabilitation needs of our facility. The system enables efficient book cataloging, circulation, inventory management, and user tracking while providing reliable data that supports planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, assessment, and reporting of our Jail Library Program.
More importantly, the system allows us to monitor library utilization, reading behavior, user engagement, and participation of our PDL, providing measurable indicators on how access to knowledge contributes to rehabilitation and personal development. Through data-driven monitoring and evaluation, the Jail Library becomes a stronger instrument in promoting literacy, education, positive behavioral change, and successful reintegration into society.
Recognizing its functionality and relevance, the BJMP Library Management System has the potential to be adopted by BJMP jail facilities nationwide, providing a standardized and technology-driven approach to library management that strengthens correctional rehabilitation across the Bureau.
