Education for Peace: 4Cav Coy (S) Sustains Development Through Bag of Dreams Program

The 4th Cavalry (Karangalan) Company (Separate), Armor Division, Philippine Army, in collaboration with the Philippine Army Finance Center Producers Integrated Cooperative (PAFCPIC) CDO Branch, Diamond Millennium Corporation, Minergy Power Corporation, the 58th Infantry (Dimalulupig) Battalion, 4ID, and the Local Government Unit of Salay Municipality, successfully conducted a Community Outreach Program and gift-giving activity at Alipuaton Integrated School, Barangay Alipuaton, Salay, Misamis Oriental on May 29, 2026.

The initiative benefited 209 pupils from Kindergarten to Grade 10, each receiving a “Bag of Dreams” containing school supplies, snacks, hygiene kits, and a pair of slippers. The program also offered free haircuts and free circumcision services, further promoting the health and well-being of children in the community.

The Bag of Dreams program, a flagship initiative of the 4Cav Coy for the past four years, underscores that education is one of the most powerful tools to end the recruitment of Communist Terrorist Groups (CTGs) among the youth. By equipping learners with school essentials and promoting their welfare, the program helps shield vulnerable communities from exploitation while reinforcing that education is the key to community progress, especially in Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Areas (GIDAs) and Conflict-Affected Areas (CONAs).
School officials, barangay leaders, parents, and residents expressed heartfelt gratitude to the participating stakeholders for their generosity and commitment to public service. The gifts and services brought joy and encouragement to the students while strengthening the spirit of cooperation within the community.

The successful conduct of the outreach program highlighted the importance of sustained collaboration among government agencies, private organizations, and local stakeholders in addressing the needs of underserved sectors. Through initiatives such as the Bag of Dreams, the participating units and company reaffirmed their dedication to fostering hope, resilience, and inclusive development.

The 4Cav Coy remains steadfast in its mission to sustain peace and development in Misamis Oriental, ensuring that education and community empowerment continue to serve as cornerstones in building stronger and more resilient communities.

USTP-CDO ROTC Unit highlights Armor Capabilities in RAATI 2026

The personnel of the 4th Cavalry (Karangalan) Company (Separate), under the leadership of Cpt. Ma. Lily Teresa A. Salazar, actively participated in the Regional Annual Administrative and Tactical Inspection (RAATI) CY 2026 of the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines (USTP) ROTC Unit, held at the 4ID Grandstand, Camp Evangelista on May 23, 2026.

The activity was graced by Col. Rey P. Pasco, Assistant Division Commander for Retired and Reservist Affairs, who served as Guest of Honor and Speaker and Chairperson of the RAATI Team. In his inspiring message, Col. Pasco underscored the values of leadership, discipline, and patriotism, reminding the cadets and personnel to lead with honor in service to the nation.

A major highlight of the RAATI was the combined-arms operation during the conduct of a raid, where diverse Army capabilities were showcased, including Armor, Artillery, Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD), and K9 units, among others. This demonstration reflected the Army’s operational readiness and its commitment to excellence in tactical proficiency.

In support of this, the 4Cav Coy (S) provided two Wheeled Armored Vehicles (WAV), whose presence was significantly important for the ROTC students, faculty, and staff, and parents of the ROTC students to appreciate that the Army possesses a wide range of operational capabilities beyond the traditional infantry.

Following the successful inspection, the participating personnel proceeded to USTP – Cagayan de Oro City to attend the Information Briefing for the School-Based Ready Reserve Unit (SRRU), the Commander’s Briefing, and the Joint Closing Ceremony of the Basic and Advance ROTC Cadets.

The event highlighted the strong partnership between the military, academe, and the ROTC community in shaping disciplined, responsible, and service-oriented future reservists. It reaffirmed the Philippine Army’s mandate to support Reserve Force Development and strengthen community engagement, ensuring that the next generation of leaders is prepared to uphold the ideals of service, honor, and patriotism.
