Nakikiramay ang National Commission of Senior Citizens (NCSC) sa pamilya ng isang senior citizen na nasawi sa aksidente sa Bgy. Napaset, Luna, La Union noong Miyerkules, 01 Hulyo 2026.

Gayundin ang malasakit ng NCSC sa siyam pang senior citizens na nasugatan at patuloy na nagpapagaling.

Nasa maayos na kalagayan na ang anim sa mga sugatan at nakauwi na sa Palawan. Ang insidenteng ito ay tinututukan ng NCSC–MIMAROPA para sa tuloy-tuloy na medikal at psychosocial assistance.

Patuloy namang minomonitor ng NCSC–Region 1 ang kalagayan ng tatlo pang senior citizens na nagpapagaling sa Ilocos Training and Regional Medical Center (ITRMC) dahil sa kanilang pinasalang natamo.

Pagkatapos dumalo sa isang event ng Komisyon sa Manila noong Hunyo 30, nagpasya silang pumunta sa Vigan City para sa maiksing bakasyon. Sa hindi inaasahang pangyayari, nabunggo sa truck ang kanilang sinasakyang van.

Nakikipag-ugnayan na ang Komisyon sa pulisya at iba pang ahensya ng pamahalaan para maibigay ang kaukulang legal at pinansyal na tulong.

The National Commission of Senior Citizens (NCSC) and the Land Bank of the Philippines (LANDBANK) formally signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) on 01 July 2026 to institutionalize the nationwide digital distribution of cash gifts under the Expanded Centenarians Act (ECA).

This partnership advances the government's digital governance agenda by modernizing the delivery of cash incentives through secure and efficient electronic payment channels. The MOA was signed by NCSC Chairperson and CEO Atty. Ma. Merceditas N. Gutierrez and LANDBANK President and CEO Lynette V. Ortiz, in support of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s directive to accelerate digital transformation in government services.

According to Atty. Gutierrez, this collaboration marks another milestone for NCSC in making government services more accessible to older Filipinos, particularly the country's "milestone agers".

"By modernizing our financial delivery systems, we are not just distributing funds; we are actively eliminating barriers, reducing long lines, and delivering dignity, security, and respect to our older population," said Atty. Gutierrez.

Senior citizens reaching the milestone ages of 80, 85, 90, and 95 are entitled to receive a ₱10,000 cash gift, while those reaching 100 years old are eligible to receive ₱100,000 cash gift under the Expanded Centenarians Act. Through this partnership, grantees with existing LANDBANK accounts may have their cash gifts directly credited to their accounts.

With LANDBANK's WeAccess and Financial Data Entry System (FINDES), qualified ECA grantees will receive their cash incentives through a Perang Inimpok Savings Options (PISO) Plus Account or a LANDBANK Visa Debit Card. Those without an existing LANDBANK account may conveniently open one through the bank's fully digital Straight-Through Account Opening feature on the LANDBANK Mobile Banking App or via the Digital Onboarding System at any LANDBANK branch, eliminating the need for lengthy paperwork.

NCSC Acting Executive Director IV Ana Marie C. Calapit and LANDBANK Executive Vice President Marilou L. Villafranca served as witnesses during the MOA signing.

For 2026, the NCSC is poised to disburse more than ₱3 billion in cash gifts to approximately 299,000 ECA grantees through multiple digital payment channels. As of May 2026, the NCSC has already served 75,922 grantees nationwide, with total cash gifts amounting to ₱801.79 million.
