𝗟𝗢𝗢𝗞 | Monster Kitchen Incorporated and YSU Marketing Corporation strengthened their food safety and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) competency through a training conducted by DOST Misamis Oriental on July 9, 2026, at Monster Kitchen Warehouse in Bulua, Cagayan de Oro City.

A total of 24 participants were equipped with knowledge on food safety hazards, personal hygiene and sanitation, prevention of cross-contamination, and proper handling, processing, and storage of food products.

The training also covered facility organization and documentation requirements to support regulatory compliance and the production of safe, high-quality food products.

Following the session, the DOST team conducted a technical consultation with Monster Kitchen Incorporated to review its Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) plan issued by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Technical guidance was provided to help address inspection observations and support the company’s ongoing License to Operate (LTO) application.

Through these strategic interventions, DOST-Misamis Oriental reaffirms its steadfast commitment to supporting local enterprises in achieving product safety, quality excellence, and regulatory compliance.

ICYMI | Bestfriend Goodies was recognized as the Regional Winner of the Best SETUP PRAISE Award during the 2026 Regional Science, Technology, and Innovation Week sa ISLA held on July 24, 2026, at the Camiguin Convention Center in Mambajao, Camiguin.

The award, conferred by DOST Northern Mindanao, honors micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) that have successfully leveraged the Small Enterprise Technology Upgrading Program (SETUP) to drive innovation, market expansion, productivity, and community impact.

Founded by Ms. Nenita M. Tan, Bestfriend Goodies started as a local producer of pasalubong treats such as Pastillas de Leche, Cheese Sticks, and Butterscotch. Through its partnership with DOST, the enterprise modernized its production processes, secured Halal and FDA certifications, and adopted technologies developed by DOST-FNRI, DOST-ITDI, and the Northern Mindanao Food Innovation Center.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Bestfriend Goodies became one of the pioneering adopters of the Enhanced Nutribun technology of DOST-FNRI in Northern Mindanao. The enterprise also adopted Ready-to-Eat (RTE) food packs for disaster relief and government feeding programs of DSWD and DepEd.

By sustaining operations during challenging times, Bestfriend Goodies provided livelihood and income opportunities for local women and community members while supporting farmers through the direct sourcing of agricultural raw materials such as squash, carrots, and malunggay from local communities.

Through SETUP, DOST continues to support MSMEs like Bestfriend Goodies in strengthening innovation, productivity, resilience, and inclusive local economic growth.

2026 Undergraduate Scholarship Qualifiers may access the portal at https://portal.science-scholarships.ph/ to download the following:

• Scholarship Agreement
• Letter of Introduction (LOI) for the opening of a Land Bank Visa Debit Card (LVDC) Payroll Account (Qualifiers who are unable to download their LOI through the portal may request a copy from their respective DOST Regional Offices.)

Submit the following documents as soon as possible to the DOST Regional Office of your home region or to DOST-SEI if your home region is NCR:

• 4 copies of the Scholarship Agreement (SA) with original signatures
• 1 copy of the accomplished Reply Slip
• Validated Certificate of Enrollment/Registration for the First Semester/Term of AY 2026–2027
• Original Official Receipt (OR) for tuition and other school fees for the First Semester/Term of AY 2026–2027 (only for private school/university without a coordinator)
• Photocopy of the Deposit Slip or Land Bank of the Philippines (LBP) STI1 Form
• Photocopy of a valid ID of the parent or legal guardian who signed the SA
• Notarized Affidavit of Legal Guardianship (only if the signer is a legal guardian)
• Proof of Program Accreditation (only if the program in private HEI requires verification)

Qualifiers are advised to regularly check the portal and their registered email address for further instructions and updates on their submission status.
