SRF BFP 10 under the leadership of FSUPT CRISTOPHER G REGENCIA, DSC, Chief, Special Rescue under the Supervision of FSSUPT RICHARD V ARBUTANTE, DSC, MPSM, Regional Director, BFP 10, its duty personnel participated in the Unified 911 FIRE SQUARE ROADSHOW successfully brought together fire safety awareness, education, and community engagement at SM CDO Downtown Mall, Cagayan de Oro City, on 11 September 2026.

The activity featured interactive booth activities, engaging experiences, and fire safety learning sessions designed to strengthen public awareness, preparedness, and understanding of fire prevention and safety measures. 👨‍🚒🔥

The activity was led by FSUPT REYNANTE S LORONO, District Fire Marshal, in collaboration with BFP Misamis Oriental, headed by FSUPT ROEL G BACASNOT, and under the direct supervision of FSSUPT RICHARD V ARBURANTE, Regional Director, BFP Region 10.

Through this collaborative effort, the Cagayan de Oro Fire District (COFD) and its partner agencies and organizations continue to strengthen their commitment to fire prevention, public safety, emergency preparedness, and meaningful community participation.

🚨 VEHICULAR ACCIDENT RESPONSE 🚨

SRF BFP 10 under the leadership of FSUPT CRISTOPHER G REGENCIA, DSC, Chief, Special Rescue under the Supervision of FSSUPT RICHARD V ARBUTANTE, DSC, MPSM, Regional Director, BFP 10, its duty personnel while en route back to base following a successful rescue and retrieval operation, responding personnel came upon a vehicular accident involving a bus and a motorcycle along C-6, Lapasan coastal road, Cagayan de Oro City at approximately 1930H 27 August 2026.

Upon arriving at the scene, responders first conducted a scene size-up and hazard assessment to ensure the safety of the responding personnel, the victim, and other road users. the area was assessed for potential hazards, and necessary safety precautions were observed before approaching and providing assistance to the victim.

After ensuring that the scene was sufficiently safe, responders approached the injured victim, conducted an initial assessment, and provided the necessary first aid and immediate care based on the victim’s condition.

Following the initial management, the victim was properly turned over to the proper authorities for further medical attention and appropriate disposition.

The incident demonstrates the commitment of responding personnel to render immediate assistance whenever and wherever an emergency is encountered—even while returning to base from a previous operation.

RESCUE AND RETRIEVAL OPERATION

SRF BFP Region 10 under the leadership of FSUPT CRISTOPHER G REGENCIA DCS, Chief Special Rescue Force and under the supervision of FSSUPT RICHARD V ARBUTANTE, DSC, MPSM, Regional Director, BFP Region 10, Duty personnel received a call from PIEMO Fire Station personnel OOA 1500H 27 August 2026 regarding an incident involving a collapsed boulders and land mass. Immediately responded and proceeded to the incident area.

A rescue and retrieval operation was successfully conducted following a landslide involving a boulder and land mass that covered a damaged excavator, with the victim trapped inside.

Prior to the extraction, Chief SRF conducted a site assessment and hazard identification and mitigation to ensure the safety of both the victim and the rescue personnel. The area was carefully stabilized, and the collapsed material covering the excavator was removed in a controlled manner. A reinforced backhoe was utilized to excavate the boulder and land mass, while the backhoe bucket served as temporary shoring to provide additional stability during the extrication process.

Once the area was deemed sufficiently stable, responders carefully extricated 1 victim from the damaged excavator and collapsed debris. The victim was successfully removed at approximately 1819H 27 August 2026, and was immediately turned over to the standby LGU Ambulance for medical attention and further transport.

The operation demonstrated the importance of proper hazard assessment, site stabilization, controlled excavation, teamwork, and coordination among responding agencies in ensuring the safety of both the victim and rescuers.

| 𝐑𝐄𝐓𝐑𝐈𝐄𝐕𝐀𝐋 𝐎𝐏𝐄𝐑𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍 𝐀𝐓 𝐏𝐔𝐑𝐎𝐊 𝟐, 𝐁𝐑𝐆𝐘. 𝐓𝐀𝐁𝐈𝐃, 𝐎𝐙𝐀𝐌𝐈𝐙 𝐂𝐈𝐓𝐘 𝟐𝟑 𝐀𝐔𝐆𝐔𝐒𝐓 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔

Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) R10, Special Rescue Force Misamis Occidental Unit Personnel together with Ozamiz City Fire Station, conducted a retrieval operation on 23 August 2026 following a report of a 55-year-old male who fell into a deep well in Purok 2, Brgy. Tabid, Ozamiz City.

The operation was carried out in coordination with the BFP Ozamiz Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Team, BFP Tangub City, and the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) of Ozamiz City.

Responding teams immediately mobilized upon receipt of the emergency call and utilized specialized rope rescue equipment and technical confined-space extraction procedures to safely access the victim and conduct the retrieval from the hazardous and confined environment.

Through coordinated efforts, technical proficiency, and adherence to established rescue procedures, the joint responding teams successfully completed the operation. The victim was subsequently turned over to the proper authorities and his grieving family.

The successful operation highlights the importance of inter-agency coordination, operational readiness, and technical rescue capability in responding to emergencies involving hazardous and challenging environments.

The BFP and its partner agencies remain committed to providing timely, professional, and coordinated emergency response in the interest of public safety.

LOOK: Strengthening Lifesaving Skills Through Continuous Training

Personnel from Special Rescue Force spearheaded by FSUPT CRISTOPHER G REGENCIA, Chief, Special Rescue Force and under the leadership and supervision of FSSUPT RICHARD V ARBUTANTE, Regional Director, BFP Region 10 attended the Basic Life Support (BLS) Refresher Course and Standard First Aid (SFA) Refresher Course held at NFTI Satellite Campus, Impasug-ong Bukidnon last 19-21 August 2026

The refresher course enhanced the participants’ knowledge and practical skills in providing immediate and effective emergency care, reinforcing their readiness to respond to medical emergencies with competence and confidence. Through continuous training and capability development, Special Rescue Force, BFP Region 10 remains committed to delivering professional, responsive, and life-saving public service.

In the aftermath of the earthquake that struck General Santos City on 08 June 2026, the Bureau of Fire Protection deployed BFP-SRF personnel from different neighboring regions namely, Region 10, 11, BARMM, and CARAGA together with personnel from Region 12, united in General Santos City to conduct Collapse Structure Search and Rescue (CSSR) operations.

Together with other organizations and agencies, working side by side, our responders demonstrated exceptional teamwork, technical expertise, and unwavering commitment while operating in unstable and hazardous environments.

Every operation required discipline, precision, and seamless coordination as teams carried out systematic search and recovery efforts, ensuring that no area was left unchecked and that every victim was treated with the utmost dignity and respect.

The mission remained steadfast and guided by duty and compassion, every responder pressed forward with resilience, professionalism, and an unwavering commitment to serve those affected by the disaster. Their dedication exemplifies the core values of the Bureau of Fire Protection—service beyond self, operational excellence, and compassion in times of adversity.

This successful inter-regional deployment stands as a testament to the strength of unified response, the value of preparedness, and the enduring spirit of public service. Together, Regions 10, 11, BARMM, CARAGA, and Region 12 demonstrated that when disaster strikes, BFP stands as one—ready to answer the call, support one another, and serve the Filipino people with honor and courage.

Under the leadership of FCSUPT ROMEL C TRADIO, Regional Director, BFP Region 10, personnel of the BFP Special Rescue Force (SRF) Region 10 conducted retrieval operations at the SAVEMORE Site, Barangay Calumpang.

Following sustained search and retrieval efforts, the body of the victim was successfully recovered and retrieved from the area at 2320H. The operation was carried out with utmost professionalism, coordination, and dedication by the responding rescue personnel, ensuring the safe and dignified recovery of the victim.

BFP SRF Region 10 extends its deepest sympathies and condolences to the bereaved family. The Bureau remains steadfast in its commitment to providing prompt, efficient, and compassionate rescue and retrieval services in times of emergency.
