Butuan City, Agusan del Norteโ€”As part of its ongoing efforts to boost the competitiveness of local products and provide entrepreneurs with modern packaging solutions, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) - Dinagat Islands, through its Shared Service Facility (SSF) and Coconut Farmers and Industry Development Plan (CFIDP), held a facility tour for SSF and CFIDP personnel, along with selected Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), at Project MIRACLE located at Father Saturnino Urios University (FSUU) Morelos Campus in Butuan City on July 16, 2026.

Project MIRACLE, a flagship initiative of the Department of Trade and Industry in partnership with FSUU, functions as a center for advanced packaging, labeling, and printing technologies aimed at helping MSMEs enhance product quality, strengthen branding, and boost market competitiveness.

The activity began with an orientation at the FSUU Press Room, where the DTI Caraga Shared Service Facility (SSF) focal person and representatives from NORDE Company explained the project's services and highlighted the importance of innovative packaging and labeling in enabling MSMEs to meet market standards and grow their businesses.

Participants then received a guided tour of the facility by a NORDE engineer, accompanied by Mr. Elmer M. Natad, Provincial Director of DTI Dinagat Islands. During the tour, attendees observed the entire packaging and labeling processโ€”from analog and digital printing to carton production, folding, finishing, and bottle heat-shrink sleeve labeling. The demonstrations showcased how modern equipment and technologies can convert locally made products into professionally packaged items that are more attractive to consumers and better suited for retail stores, institutional buyers, and wider markets.

This learning activity encouraged MSMEs to see packaging and labeling not just as final touches but as strategic investments that increase product value, reinforce brand identity, and build consumer trust. By exposing entrepreneurs to industry-standard technologies and best practices, DTI Dinagat Islands continues to empower local businesses to innovate, enhance product presentation, and tap into new markets.

Through initiatives like this facility tour, DTI Dinagat Islands reaffirms its commitment to developing competitive and market-ready MSMEs by providing access to knowledge, technology, and strategic partnerships that foster sustainable growth and contribute to the economic progress of the Province of Dinagat Islands.

CAGDIANAO, DINAGAT ISLANDS โ€” True community empowerment goes beyond providing immediate aid; it involves equipping citizens with the knowledge to protect themselves and make every peso count.
In a joint effort to build informed and resilient local communities, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Dinagat Islands, through its Consumer Protection Division (CPD), in collaboration with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), brought its public awareness campaign directly to the residents of Cagdianao on July 21, 2026.

The campaign was integrated into the DSWDโ€™s Walang Gutom Program Beneficiariesโ€™ Food Redemption activity. Recognizing that access to food and consumer protection are interconnected, DTI conducted both a Bandilyo (public acoustic announcement) and a Consumer Education and Information (CEI) drive right where the community gathered.
While beneficiaries lined up for essential food provisions, DTI officers shared important insights on eight (8) consumer rights and five (5) consumer responsibilities, helping citizens understand their legal safeguards against unfair business practices.

The partnership between DTI and DSWD emphasizes a holistic approach in public service: meeting the immediate nutritional needs of families while also fostering long-term consumer literacy.
By bringing consumer advocacy out of the office and directly into local redemption activities, DTI Dinagat Islands ensures that government protection reaches every part of the provinceโ€”turning everyday buyers into vigilant, empowered consumers.
